  1. I've made many great purchases from blowitoutahere, both through Amazon and directly through their own web site. Based on my fairly extensive experience with all 4, I'd put blowitoutahere at or near the top along with Newbury Comics, and then importcds and MovieMars slightly below (but still fairly reliable). Incidentally, I always compare the Amazon Marketplace shipped prices of these sellers with the shipped prices on their own web sites, and often find that an item is cheaper on their web sites. And again, in my experience, customer service is the same either way.
  2. My older club records always sounded pretty good to me:
  3. So now it's just Scott, Fred, and Michael?
  4. ADHD.
  5. I can't quite figure out why they've repackaged this into 2, 2-disk sets. Did the 4 CD box not sell? The 4-CD set was a limited edition from Hip-O Select. These 2-disc sets are apparently repackaged by Universal for the masses, without the fancy hard-back book.
  6. I'm going to save his email for the next time this question (inevitably ) comes up here, again. If that's the case then why have some people received some Hank Mobley sets with numbers near the last 50? Something doesn't jive. Maybe that should be the next question for Scott/Fred/Michael. I think it's your turn.
  7. Except that up until the recent shipping changes, at least, each booklet had been hand-numbered at the time of shipment to the customer, using a number generated in sequential order by the computer system and appearing on the computer-generated invoice. This was explained to our very own Brad in an email from Mosaic that has been quoted here several times over the past few years. Last I recall, however, Hans had emailed Scott Wenzel asking if this was still the system, and had not yet received a reply. Hans? I never got a reply from Scott about that - which is unusual for him, I might add. They're probably sick of this question (just a guess ) You should email him again and tell him that it keeps coming up on the Board, and we need a definitive answer! I'd rather remain on friendly terms with him Just sent my own inquiry--now he can be annoyed at me. Good luck Just heard back from Fred: I'm going to save his email for the next time this question (inevitably ) comes up here, again.

  11. Oscar Peterson, "Debut: The Clef/Mercury Duo Recordings 1949-1951" (Verve/Hip-O Select) with Ray Brown/Major Holley
  12. How hard could it be? I mean, after all, Paul (Free For All) plays it!
  13. Ella Fitzgerald, "Twelve Nights In Hollywood" (Verve/Hip-O Select)
  14. The Groovadelphia pad will always be open to you guys, individually or together.
  15. John Coltrane, "The Heavyweight Champion--The Complete Atlantic Recordings" (Rhino/Atlantic)
  16. ANY price is too high for those sets. There--I've said it.
  17. Yep. Just checked on my iPod (a transfer from my Mosaic set), and it sounds as if it's a split-second of another recording intruding into this one. Through the iPod ear buds, the "trumpet" is in the left channel, and the underlying mono recording seems to disappear for that brief, stereo moment. I suspect that it's a Mosaic mastering glitch, or perhaps a pressing glitch that only shows up in later production runs.
  18. Well, he wasn't doing carpentry his last 3 years, so those hands had plenty of time to heal. And get manicures.
  19. Definitely NOT the hands of a carpenter.
  20. Lon's a big fan of the Hermans:
  21. Goddamn lawyers.
  22. Should be. Of course, if Hans hears back from Scott, we'll have the definitive answer.
  23. Jim hittin' the outlets--and of course, LL Bean. Watch out for that Lowe character--he's a maniac.
  24. Another year? In that case I can hardly believe the numbering is sequential, with mixedupfiles' set being in the high 7400s and the total number being 7500. Hans, since you seem to be in touch with Scott on a regular basis, could you ask him about this? Up until recently, at least, the big boxes were definitely numbered in the sequence in which they were shipped--based on Mosaic's email to Brad, and also based on the numbers people have posted here for soon-to-be OOP sets that they just purchased. Perhaps this has changed? Or perhaps mixedupfiles' Mobley number is, well, mixed up? Given the recent outsourcing of shipping operations, who knows?
