  1. If you're into cumbias, you may like this mix I did 3 years ago - my first mix on Mixcloud. Random Radio 001: Music for Drug Runners, Criminals, Rapists, and Some Good People
  2. Oh, yeah! It's fun - even if I can't trust the song names now - LOL!!!
  3. OK, thanks for that info. Of course, it had gone waaaay beyond the just guessing part, because I had to find out what was up - and, so, I guess someone decided to put together a Cumbia All Stars collection and left out the Diaz Brothers in their collection. How the title of the song got screwed, who knows?
  4. Wow! OK, confusing, but I think, now it must be: El carbonero Letra by El Combo Candela which is a strange thing because I have both of their recordings. I'll have to see what the mixup was (is?)... but check this out: here's the YouTube video with El Combo Candela, but the info under the video says that it's the Cumbia All-Stars. So, anyway, it's gotta be either one of those, I guess (unless there's even a third one that sounds like this - LOL!!!) ...and it is from El Ritmo es Correcto (which I had to discover - the hard way - LOL!) Yeah, well, I'm gettin' an education here! Most of the versions of Los Sabañales I'm hearing online are totally different - often done as a guaguanco. That's what I get for trusting some misnamed download (and not knowing the language). Ha!
  5. OK, you have majorly confused me. Are you getting what I'm sending you? I'm sending you the lyrics and a link to the tune - which is Los Sabañales by the Cumbia All Stars. Is this not the same tune on the BFT? "By the Sea"
  6. I still am mixed up about #10 - everything I hear is this and the lyrics are this, yet somehow it is not this. Hmmmm... He was a great Jamaican percussionist and band leader - often used nyahbinghi-styled drumming in sessions.
  7. It's that Intro - "Sam's"?
  8. #1 is clearly Count Ossie, but which album? Since much of what's here seems to come from mid-70s (and it has that sound), I'm gonna go with that Mozambique album. Still mulling over a couple others here...
  9. Sitting down (finally) to a glass of milk in a Jim Alfredson glass.
  10. No, the tune is Los Sabanales isn't it? It's the Cumbia All-Stars, I thought.
  11. 8: Vesala & Stanko, but can't remember the album - um, "Satu"? 10: always love me some cumbia - I mean, why not get some "all-stars" to do it, right! Los Sabañales!!! 14: This goes back some way... Enrico Rava - The Pilgrim and the Stars? Don't know the name of the cut tho. 15: Sky Blues with Sonny, but which album? I think it's on the singles collection - one of them, but this is a lot longer. Gotta give this some thought... Wait! Disco 3000?
  12. It's the 7-CD box from about a decade ago. At the time I posted, I was listening to CD4. More info here: https://www.discogs.com/%E9%98%BF%E9%83%A8%E8%96%AB-CD-Box-1970-1973/release/3663491
  13. Have had the same thing happen with rentals - no CD players anymore, because they've become an obsolete item. I think 2017 or so was the last time that I would travel with 10 discs, an iPod and a flashdrive to cover all areas - just cRaZy. Last couple of times, we just downloaded a few thousand tunes from Spotify and used the Bluetooth setup on my wife’s phone. We drive a 20 year old car now, so loading up 6 discs in the built-in changer is no problem (as I listened today when I made the trek out to Frisco to pick up dinner). [Sometimes, I even use the cassette player in it]. There is a CD player solution that you can discover on YouTube. I understand that it's expensive, so... At least with a thumb drive, it shows your tunes on the display. This player doesn't seem to show anything useful at all.
  14. Most of the time, the few tunes that I ever have to correct/annotate when it comes to ID tags are classical recordings, but that’s just because I prefer the composer’s name under “artist.” Other than that, the approx. 1.5 million tunes I have in iTunes are automagically ID’d properly.
  15. Danish disco dancer Sis Pedersen displayed rather more of herself than planned as she limbered up for the world disco dancing championship to be held in LondonDecember 1979
  16. Dave Holland - Another Land
  17. One Man’s Quest to Build the Best Stereo System in the World
  18. Majority of COVID-19 cases in King County are from unvaccinated people, health experts say.
  19. Even if I’m wearing a fireproof suit that’s 72-95% effective, I still don’t see any reason to walk into a house that’s still on fire. If some people are so stupid to walk inside one while essentially naked, then so be it. The essential problem is that we need to put out the damn fire, and so with these anti-vax and maskholes out there, it makes it very difficult if not impossible to do so.
