Hey CJ, I don't know if you've received your order yet, but I just got 13 packages today. The earliest one from an order placed on Dec. 9, so I'm not sure if that gives you something to gauge, but that's the story here in Dallas.

http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/nov/14ipod.html Apple Teams Up With Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM & United to Deliver iPod Integration CUPERTINO, California—November 14, 2006—Apple® today announced it is teaming up with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to deliver the first seamless integration between iPod® and in-flight entertainment systems. These six airlines will begin offering their passengers iPod seat connections which power and charge their iPods during flight and allow the video content on their iPods to be viewed on the seat back displays. “There is no better traveling companion than an iPod, and now travelers can power their iPods during flight and even watch their iPod movies and TV shows on their seat back displays,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPod Product Marketing. “We’re excited to work with Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United to offer iPod users an even better in-flight experience.” In-flight iPod connectivity will be available to Air France, Continental, Delta, Emirates, KLM and United passengers beginning in mid 2007. Additionally, Apple is working with Panasonic Avionics Corporation to bring even more leading airlines in-flight iPod connectivity in the future. The iPod ecosystem continues to flourish with more than 3,000 accessories made specifically for iPod that range from fashionable cases to speaker systems, and more than 70 percent of 2007-model US automobiles currently offer iPod connectivity. iPod and iTunes® are leading the digital music revolution, providing the best way to listen to music on the go, at home, in the car and now on an airplane. With nearly 70 million iPods sold, the iPod is the world’s most popular digital music and portable video player and the iTunes Store is the number one online music store with over 1.5 billion songs purchased and downloaded worldwide. The iTunes Store (www.itunes.com) features over 3.5 million songs, 65,000 podcasts, 20,000 audiobooks, 5,000 music videos, 250 television shows and over 100 movies from Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Touchstone Pictures and Miramax Films. Apple ignited the personal computer revolution in the 1970s with the Apple II and reinvented the personal computer in the 1980s with the Macintosh. Today, Apple continues to lead the industry in innovation with its award-winning desktop and notebook computers, OS X operating system, and iLife and professional applications. Apple is also spearheading the digital music revolution with its iPod portable music players and iTunes online store.

If it's any consolation... I still have orders out (from other places) that are nearly a month old. I wouldn't blame DG...yet Nearly every January I have this problem with orders and subscriptions. Delivery must be really backed up in all areas - USPS, UPS, etc - during this month and three days of no postal delivery didn't help. It'll show up - maybe a month after you placed it - but I'm betting it'll show.

Hey! I think I've been there!

Well, you know what I mean.

She's not a kid - she's 14. Man, there was no way I could talk to anybody about jazz when I was in high school. It would be cool tho if there were a jazz forum for teenagers!

Now listen guys. We ran off Terrie last year, so let's be fair this time. Plus she doesn't take any s**t and I like that! So Danielle, tell us how you discovered us here and what's your interest in jazz? Oh, and welcome!

Nice site. Thanks so much for the link to Misha Mengelberg's cat playing the piano! Wonderful in soooo many ways!

Alexander, When ending a sentence with a quotation, where should one place the period? Should it be inside the quotation mark or outside?

Good idea! Yeah, it's a median, but it works for most folks. Thanks! My last iTunes collection of tracks went from 0:00 to a track that was many days in length, so I'm not sure if it would've worked for me.

Yeah, if you've got the time to do it, you could try that - only you know how much music that you have and how much time that you want to spend on fixing it. Maybe you could create a disc of the files that you no longer have and then casually go thru your CD library - listening and ripping. It fills up real fast! Up to now, I've been making a separate playlist that I call "Orphans" that holds little bits of things that I may get online or stuff that JSngry sends as attachments ( ) and after days, weeks, months...I'll burn a disc of all of the "orphaned" songs. ...but, yeah, from your description, I'd say that you may have damaged some or many of the audio files with the freeze/demount. A few years ago, I accidentally unplugged the wrong external drive - just happened to be the one that had my iTunes folder on it and off went the music and a bunch of files were now totally corrupt. Learned my lesson real fast!

I'm saying that if Brad's tunes are either stuttering or not working at all (due to the freeze/incorrect demount), then he'll have to re-rip the tunes. The problem is that when an accident occurs it affects different songs without any musical or stylistic reasons so he could re-rip a song whenever he hears a problem with that song (which could be a long ongoing process) or just re-rip his complete library.
-
Aaaaah, OK, so it sounds like your iPod wasn't demounted properly (which would be natural after a freeze), so some of your files were probably damaged during this - sooo, the only thing left is to re-rip those files. Depending on how many were affected, it's probably difficult to find which ones, but you can either re-rip anytime you hear a bum file or if your library is on the smallish side, you could erase and re-rip everything. A complete erasing is a good thing occasionally methinks (with an external backup of course). I do this with my internal drive every once-in-a-while. As soon as I finish up with a few things here, I'm gonna do just that in the next couple of days.

They arrived today! Thanks Allen. They look really great! Loading 'em up right now. Oh, damn! They're not in the CD database - looks like I've got some typing to do...

I've found that when I've had a tech prob and I start getting all angry at the software, I often find that I had done something that I shouldn't have and feel a bit embarrassed afterwards. There's always some strange combination of original source of a file or a delayed or half-assed upgrade that I did, etc. that usually ends up being the culprit. No telling now what the problem was then with your music because of the nature of upgrades, etc., but I've found that it's pretty important for all of your software to "be on the same page" - so to speak - meaning that if you do or do not decide to upgrade, that it needs to be consistent for all elements involved. If you upgrade your iTunes (or not), then you need to equally upgrade (or not) your iPod. These things seem to go hand-in-hand because, unlike much PC based software, there's a near seamless relationship that's pre-tested by Apple that usually works in tandem.

This is nice to see this. Since it may be difficult to estimate what your average song duration is, you can put in "1 minute" and the numbers become the total minutes you can store. Probably obvious, but thought I'd point that out in case it was missed.

I'll tell ya...that article would make me stop if I did smoke but what is pretty clear is that even that isn't enough for some folks. People are smoking at the funeral!

Actually, it's tied in with my resolutions this year... Beginning last week, I began getting ready, so to speak, for the new year by making some changes and doing some clean-up of my desktop - computer and the physical ones in my office and studio. It's a bit of a major overhaul - audio, video, text, etc - but I have a major 21 month plan in mind involving archiving and other concerns. Also, I'm awaiting a complete transfer of my domain to a new host. My old host really buggered up my email access (their servers cRaShEd really badly) and so after a few years of them, I'm going to someone who has a much better deal. This doesn't really affect the rodcast stream, but my iTunes currently only has the recording Rugolo Plays Kenton on it , but I can play you something else if you like by just pulling out a disc - Anyway, I'm hoping to get the stream going within the next week. Thanks for asking. Rod
