  1. See post #181. Thanks, Hans. That exchange is wonderful, viewed from Europe, I guess. It appears that Hans responded to Paul's question the day before he asked it MG Time is relative
  2. XRCDs are not a new phenomenon, they've been around for years. To my ears most of the early ones that were mastered by Alan Yoshida at A&M Mastering Studios, Hollywood sound good to excellent, while later series that were mastered in Japan don't, at least not most of the ones that I've heard; they sound as if the higher frequencies were boosted.
  3. They can be pre-ordered from CD Pacific for $22.90 each, with a January 19, 2010 release date: Soul Station True Blue Speakin' My Piece Cool Struttin'
  4. See post #181.
  5. As far as I know it isn't.
  6. That's been asked and answered elsewhere on the board: Jim's reply ____________________________________________________________________________________ The board timed out a few times when I tried to access it today, both on Firefox and IE8. I hope the problems of the "old board" are not reappearing here.
  7. Sometimes an old thread is "reactivated" by a new post and people tend to respond as if it's a new thread, which can lead to confusion. I don't know if the board software allows it, but I think it would be a good idea to indicate the age of a thread by showing the date of the initial post on the board index.
  8. Verve/Hip-O Select will be releasing a Clifford Brown 4CD-set with the EmArcy Brown/Roach master takes. A set with Clifford Brown's EmArcy dates with singers will be released later. Full details here. I'm perfectly happy with my Complete Clifford Brown 10CD-set that came out in the early 1990s, so I won't be buying the upcoming sets
  9. Trumpeters Willie Thomas and Paul Serrano, alto saxophonists John Jenkins and Bunky Green, pianists John Young and Chris Anderson.
  10. It's probably me, but I don't see the "donate" button.
  11. As I posted earlier in this thread, only IE8 has that button and only when sites are recognized as being incompatible with IE8.
  12. I get that, too. I'm on IE8. It's confusing if it doesn't always happen the same way. You close a window, rather than doing a "back", and you find you're out on your arse MG Well, if you hit the "compatibility display" button, everything will surely fall into place. See my earlier post about this.
  13. hmmm not seeing it - maybe i'm using IE 7 - i can't figure out how to find out what version of IE i am using either. I'm a mess! Only IE8 has that button, and only on sites that it recognizes as being incompatible with IE8.
  14. I think I've found a solution to the IE8 problem - I hit the "compatibility display" button at the right of the address bar at the top of the page and everything fell into place. The board looks great now on IE8!
  15. Are you using IE7 or IE8, Ed? I'm using 7 Hans I'm asking because IE seems to be the culprit here.
  16. Are you using IE7 or IE8, Ed?
  17. Looks pretty good on Opera, too.
  18. No, sorry, it's still the same - not good. On Firefox it's still great (to add a positive note )
  19. Same here. It does seem that IE8 is having problems with the new set-up. So far Neveronfriday seems to be the only member whose IE8 displays the board as it's supposed to be.
  20. Nope, it isn't, I'm getting the same weird display on IE8 as described by Van Basten II.
  21. To post here I'm using Firefox, IE8 is too problematic.
  22. My IE8 is the very latest version (I check updates every week) and I'm still getting that weird display. I'm using IE8 with XP (SP3).
  23. That's exactly what I got with IE8, but on Firefox it's fine.
  24. "View new content" at the top right-hand corner.
  25. I guess this means that I have to turn off the sound on my computer every time I "view new content"
