  1. Sad news.
  2. Same here. Tried his Mosaic Select, but didn't like his playing and sold it.
  3. Yep. I thought I'd mention it because in my opinion it's a great set
  4. The Curtis Amy and Bennie Green Mosaic Selects are now in the Last Chance category. The Tal Farlow Mosaic is also in this category. Get them before it's too late!
  5. That wasn't my question.
  6. Didn't Swaggie only reissue the Bob Cats on CD?
  7. When I asked them about it yesterday Amazon U.K. assured me that the replacement boxes don't have the glue problem.
  8. So does Amazon U.K..
  9. I have a "Decca Jazz" compilation, South Rampart Street Parade (GRP-615), with terrific music, but unfortunately the sound is dead as a dodo - it's another victim of Sonic Solutions' "NoNoise" system, as is proudly mentioned in the booklet...
  10. Received my box today from France. Pretty good shape, even though the packaging was sparse. Two slight splits on the front flip-down corners of the box, which I repaired with some clear tape. The box is sturdier than the early ones that I've seen. Cds are in cardboard sleeves, but glue is still a problem, I had fourteen cds with residue. Still, very happy with the purchase and the price, which is on par with AmazonUK. Positives: It is very nice to have the original art work, first time I've seen some of the covers, eg. 1958. As I was checking all the cds, I became more and more astounded by Miles, it was one great album after another. This man was a true artist for the ages. Are you sure you got a newly manufactured box?
  11. I ordered the box from Amazon U.K. They told me the replacement boxes are not expected to ship until next week at the earliest. Let's hope they solved the glue problem.
  12. I hated the sound on the Experience Hendrix remasters of Are You Experienced?, Axis: Bold As Love and Electric Ladyland and I really hope Sony will remaster those albums without any limiting, added compression and boosted highs.
  13. As far as I can see this set has only one or two tracks each from her one Liberty and three Riverside albums, and I think you'd be better off with the individual OJC reissues as far as the Riversides go: OJC OJCCD-069 Abbey Is Blue (Riverside 1153) OJC OJCCD-085 That's Him! (Riverside 251) OJC OJCCD-205 It's Magic (Riverside 277)
  14. Looks like a compilation containing tracks from her 1956-1959 Liberty and Riverside albums and some of her 1960s-1980s albums on other labels. (edit) This set was released by Universal in Europe in 2009. It looks like a hodge-podge to me.
  15. Yep, these are repeats. I don't have a problem with that
  16. BBC 4 Jazz Night (all times GMT) From the BBC site: "There's a variey of music on offer, with Jazz Night on Friday including performances from Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, the Modern Jazz Quartet, Oscar Peterson and Thelonious Monk, as well as Arena's examination of Cool through the music that came to be known as cool jazz, and Storyville's Jazz Baroness documentary."
  17. I don't know what your opinion is on the use of noise reduction, but I'd be careful; EMI boxes with older material often suffer from excessive noise reduction - their Artur Schnabel Beethoven piano sonatas box is a prime example.
  18. Personal problems are much more important, of course, and I don't mind at all if they caused a delay in CD shipment or repayment, but I would have appreciated it if he had dropped me a line. It's not so much the fact that I lost some money as the feeling of having been conned that I don't like.
  19. I hope so too, he still owes me a CD I paid for but didn't get...
  20. And what about everyone else outside the United States? I don't think it's unfair, shipping to destinations outside North America is quite a bit more expensive than domestic shipping.
  21. Yes, the T Bone set is still available. The T-Bone Walker Mosaic is a great set. Highly recommended!
  22. I see. So it's essentially a list of people who died between mid-December 2008 and mid-December 2009.
  23. I've seen a member with a -10 rating and his reputation was "poor". Another member who had 10 positives was rated "good" or something like that.
  24. There's at least one error in that list - Page Cavanaugh died in December 2008, not in 2009. (edit) Another error: Kenny Cox also died in 2008, not in 2009.
  25. I hope you - or Jim - will, at the moment it's still active.
