  1. There are several Mahler threads here. The search function might help you.
  2. If you would have looked a bit further down, you would have noticed this: Product details Audio CD Number of Discs: 15
  3. Absolutely. Would not take that much space and would be very helpful to a lot of fans of the label! Why not ask Mosaic?
  4. If Amazon U.K. can actually come through on this, delivery might be delayed due to the postal strike in the U.K.

I think Have No Fear is available directly from Chuck. As is Serenade & Blues. Both are highly recommended.
  6. Hans - I'm assuming George Cables wants people's prayers, based on Valerie's asking for them. If it is something that gives him comfort or hope, that's his choice. I got the impression from the first post that it was just Valerie asking for prayers, not Mr Cables. Anyway, I still think religion shouldn't be brought into threads like this. So when is an appropriate time? When the guy is dead, or never? If someone on this board started a thread asking for well wishes and a couple of members posted something like "I'll say a prayer for you" would you get all bent out of shape? What difference does it make how a person chooses or requests an expression of support and care? It isn't as if Valerie requested a specific prayer and said you must do it. Was it really necessary to point out that the prayers won't do shit? Fuck me, this place can be a real pisser at times. Too many uptight psuedo-intellects. Couldn't agree more, Chris. That said, can we please move the prayer debate to another thread? Let's keep this one for the best wishes (or whatever one wants to call it) in regards Mr. Cables' health. I agree.
  7. The button is in the blue toolbar near the top of the first page. Upcoming releases

I'm just saying that in my opinion religion should be kept out of this. There's a difference between asking for support and care, and asking for religious acts. For some people it might be the same, for others it certainly isn't. By the way, I didn't point out that "that the prayers won't do shit".

  10. Why bring religion into this in the first place like was done in the first post? That's what started all this. Let me just say that I wish Mr Cables all the best and a speedy recovery.
  11. I totally agree with Chris.
  12. Wow ask a simple question if anybody has any info on these re-releases (because I saw no info anywhere) and what do I get? A bunch of dick heads telling me to show myself. You guys are a classy bunch! A classy bunch of jazz snobs. I guess if I have a question I won't ask here for fear of some ass jumping down my throat. How to chase people away...
  13. His name is Wally Traugott, mastering and lacquer-cutting engineer for Capitol Records' Capitol Mastering subsidiary. "Wally" is always credited in the runout grooves of the record, with MASTERED BY CAPITOL stamped in, and the "Wally" signature etched alongside. His LP masterings are highly regarded.
  14. Hans, I just took a look at my set, and 77 of the 347 songs are instrumentals - the Mosaic booklet designates each instrumental track, and I believe that my count is accurate. The discography lists around 20 tracks where the NKC Trio was backed by some sort of vocal group. I remember the backing vocals on a half-dozen or so of these tracks being truly invasive and sounding quite dated - I honestly do not recall how large of a distraction the vocal groups were on the other tracks. The discography also lists about 10 tracks with some sort of strings backing, including the "Christmas Song". As for the number of novelty songs, I don't know what to tell you. In terms of comparison, I would say that there definitely are no songs in this set approaching the kind of garbage that Sinatra regularly recorded during the end of his tenure with Columbia. Of course, I believe that, with the trio, Nat Cole did little wrong - he seems to have had the ability (much like Louis Armstrong) of elevating lesser songs with his considerable talents. I am sure that there are those who will disagree with this assessment. I hope that this helps. Thanks Ed, this certainly helps
  15. I have a question for owners of the Nat King Cole Mosaic. I understand that this set has very few instrumentals (maybe even less than 30) and an awful lot of vocals, many novelty songs, plus several tracks with background vocals and/or strings. Correct?
  16. What a pity Mosaic didn't issue this fabulous collection on CD...
  17. The rules are the same for all European Union countries, including the U.K.
  18. The following CD is scheduled for release. On December 7, 2007 DIW 488 Flanagan,Tommy(p) The Complete Overseas+3~50th Anniversary Edition~ 2500
  19. No, I'm not interested in the QJ, and I didn't ask.
  20. Mosaic Future Projects page The Hampton includes his 1937-1941 Victor sides, but not his Decca recordings.
  21. I just heard from Mosaic that the Lionel Hampton set will probably be released mid to late November 2007, and the Piano Boogie Woogie and Blues Select in January 2008.
  22. Why is it North-Americans feel so threaten when people talk about that sport, you don't like it leave people who enjoy it alone. There are a lot of sports i can't stand watching, i don't go out of my way, telling people that they are watching a sport that i find boring. Well put.
  23. MG, I'm not sure that the company had much of an "original promise". As I recall, in the brochure I received in 1986 (which was the first time I had heard of them), the explanation of the company was that two guys (Charlie Lourie and Michael Cuscuna) started the company to issue what they considered to be important music regardless of whether it had any commercial appeal or not. As I recall, they cited the Monk Blue Note and the Mulligan/Baker as sets they considered to have commercial appeal, and the Tina Brooks and the Herbie Nichols as sets they considered to be without commercial appeal. So from the start they said that they were going to issue music they liked and thought was important. They made it clear that nobody's opinion mattered but theirs, although later they asked for suggestions. I later called and placed an order with Charlie Lourie, and during our conversation I suggested the Four Freshmen and other vocals. Lourie dismissed the idea, and felt that there weren't any jazz vocals good enough! (Hard to believe, but that's how I remember it!) The "limited edition" nature of the sets was stressed, in the sense that "you should order now or forever hold your peace". It was never suggested that their products would become popular and would be good investments for resale. I agree with everything you say Hans. As I explained earlier in the thread, I myself thought that the initiative showed promise, not that the principals ever said anything to make me think they'd be doing stuff for me - I just thought they might. And, of course, they did, a bit. I would simply have wished that they'd have done more. MG Errr... I didn't post that comment.
  24. Didn't they actually come out with that last one? Mosaic MD4-178? "The Complete Blue Note Blue Mitchell Sessions." Is the title of this set in error? "Collision in black" and "Bantu village" are missing from the Mosaic. The title of the set is not, however, in error. "The complete Blue Note Blue Mitchell Sessions 1963-1967". The missing items were recorded in 1968 and 1969 repectively. (It's like the small print on an insurance policy that means you won't ever be able to claim.) MG Bruce is probably a very happy man, having his post answered three times
