  1. I'll bet those sound sweet! Yep, they do and sonically I prefer them to the Mosaic, although that set isn't bad either. I sold the Mosaic when I got the TOCJs. For those interested: the TOCJs are long gone and pretty hard to find. Get the Mosaic instead!
  2. Yeah. That one is turning out to be elusive as a 'deal'. The owner of a CD store in Austria told me yesterday that Universal Europe deleted the Buddy Rich set some time ago and that it's been hard to find ever since, so I guess you'll have to get it from Mosaic if you really want this one.
  3. This is indeed a great set and I'd immediately order it if I didn't already have the Japanese "Blue Note Works" TOCJs, which only omit a few alternates.
  4. The excellent Horace Parlan Mosaic is running low. Get it while you can!
  5. Mine was the full shebang.. So was mine. Mine still is
  6. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel told me that, as things stand, the Braxton, Goodman and Akiyoshi/Tabackin sets will be up for pre-order at the end of September 2008.
  7. Why don't you call them: 203.327.7111 (9-5 EST Mon-Fri) or e-mail them at info@mosaicrecords.com ?
  8. I just noticed that he joined on March 8, 2005, posted 15 times and didn't come back here after March 9, 2005
  9. I've only listened to disc 1 so far and, considering the age of the recordings and the fact that some tracks were taken from 78s and LPs because there were no tape sources, to my ears it sounds pretty good. The tape transfers were done by Ellen Fitton, the disc transfers by Malcolm Addey, Dr Michael Arie and Mark Wilder and the set was mastered by Malcolm Addey.
  10. This new rule might have something to do with copyright.
  11. I only have the domestic RVG of this title, and I've never cared for the mastering on it. I've been looking for a TOCJ of this for quite some time, not knowing if there ever was one to begin with. Does anyone know if this is a different mastering than the original TOCJ? At this price, I'm very tempted to just say "heck with it" and buy it anyway. Speak No Evil was released in the Toshiba "Blue Note Works" series on April 26, 1995: TOCJ-4194.
  12. It's not an "upgrade" to my ears, I prefer the 1980s CDs. However, the Mosaic's fine for someone who doesn't have those CDs.
  13. That thread was also started by tranemonk... Noticed that too. indeed...
  14. Very true and annoying. I also find it annoying that some posters over there who picked up a few Hoffman-mastered jazz albums but never listened to jazz before, are talking as if they know all about it...
  15. Those two Jimmie Lunceford CDs are excellent. One of the great big bands of the 1930s. Highly recommended!
  16. By all means, don't make rash decisions. I don't think anybody in this thread has recommended doing so. My point was once you've made a decision to get a divorce, don't dawdle. Exactly; I totally agree.
  17. Good advice, and I'm speaking from personal experience - we weren't married, but my girlfriend and I "officially" lived together; once we had signed the separation papers and she had moved out, things improved fast. Take care.
  18. Be sure to get the 1991 8CD Atlantic box (the one you linked to), it has more tracks than the 7 individual CD volumes that were issued in the 1980s and it also has the correct takes instead of the wrong ones that were used on the 1980s discs. The sound is excellent; the remastering was done by Zal Schreiber and Steve Innocenzi. Highly recommended!
  19. I've relisted a few items. The auctions end Saturday 8/23.

    Montreux, not Montreaux.
  21. Simple explanation - it's a typo, they meant Oscar Peterson Plays....
  22. I'm looking for this CD (not a CD-R), but I'm not prepared to pay a very high price: Gerry Hemingway - Perfect World - Random Acoustics RA 019 PayPal is my only payment option. Please PM me if you're selling a copy or know where I can get one. Thanks.
