  1. The Mosaic Blue Mitchell set does not include his post-1967 Blue Note recordings. The full title of the set is The Complete Blue Note Blue Mitchell Sessions (1963-1967).
  2. That is my dream as well. Should have happened in 2003, barring a return of Bartman or Little, maybe it can happen this time. With the Cubs visiting the Marlins this week, I am planning to head down for Thursday's 4 pm start. I'm hoping the stadium will be empty and I'll buy or scalp super cheap tickets and sit wherever, but its possible that Cub fans will come out of the woodwork. But a 3 1/2 game lead means that with a little luck, Thursday could be clinching day. Better bring extra film. Have fun!
  3. That would indeed be a very interesting World Series. I'm looking forward to watching at least some Post Season games, though they're usually in the middle of my night.

  5. You probably have discussed this somewhere else, but can you be more specific? What jazz does he have a poor appreciation for? MG: which original Mosaic promise are you referring to?
  6. Honestly, WTF is your beef with Cuscuna? You hammer him in almost every other post you make here on this board. "Fast buck artist"? Fuck you, dude. I'm convinced you think Cuscuna shafted you out of some recording deal back in the day, and you just can't forgive him. I know you're a frustrated musician and all, but damn... Cheers (to Mosaic, of course), Shane Calling Michael Cuscuna a "fast buck artist" is totally uncalled-for and way over the line. Cheers to him and Mosaic indeed. Really, some of the comments here...
  7. if you email Mosaic, I am sure they will tell you the answer to your question. According to Mosaic there are currently no sets heading for the "Running Low/Last Chance" list.
  8. I have no idea which set will go OOP next. I asked Mosaic's Scott Wenzel about the Reinhardt, Mobley and Parlan sets a few days ago and he said he expected them to last until at least the end of this year.
  9. Well put. Besides, whether Mosaic sets are value for money or not is the topic here.
  10. I'm going to sell hundreds of CDs from my collection soon, probably including a few I'll later wish I hadn't sold...
  11. I agree. What a pity this series didn't sell.
  12. Calling from Europe is a bit pricey...
  13. Result: Juventus 0, Udinese 1
  14. Juventus are not playing Roma. misread the schedule Juventus are playing Udinese today.
  15. Apparently I'm the only one who has mixed feelings about some of the music...
  16. Hear, hear! I'd put Lion and Wolff first, though, because they made this session possible - and so many other great dates, for that matter.
  17. I paid very little for it too, but I don't like the compilation that much, some tracks sound rather uninspired to my ears.
  18. Ah, our jazzshrink beat me to it!

  20. ...And I also found the last three tracks on the CD: they were recorded in LA on November 12, 1954 and remained unissued.
  21. Just found the date with the first eight songs on the CD in the Ruppli discography: they were recorded in NYC on September 20, 1954, and were scheduled for release on Norgran MGN-1025, which was not issued.
  22. I did some more research and found that the Moonglow date was recorded in LA on June 23, 1954, not in March 1955. I found the info in Michel Ruppli's Verve discography.
  23. You're welcome. I don't think so. At least it wasn't a Norgran date, since that label wasn't founded until 1953. Maybe Norman Granz purchased the recordings, but didn't release them. Anyway, I couldn't find a 1947 Benny Carter date with those song titles.
  24. Did you look at the back of the jewel box? For some reason I think they are there. No recording dates are mentioned on the back of the jewel case.
