  1. The fifth volume in the JSP series (1938-1940) is now available from Amazon U.K. and Worlds Records and will be available from Amazon.com in August.
  2. It's on that shadowy label from Andorra, Lonehill Jazz.
  3. It was originally issued on LP on Felsted FAJ 7008.
  4. Not sure that I've seen it around but I've got the vinyl LP issued on Affinity, a division of Charly Records in the UK. My copy was issued in 1986. It was issued under the name of Billy Strayhorn's Septet ( Strayhorn, Qunetin Jackson, 'Cue Porter', Shorty Baker, Russell Procope, Al Hall, Oliver Jackson ). Recorded 14 April, 1959. A fine record if I remember correctly, although I haven't played it in a while. Not sure whether it has ever been issued on CD. It was issued on CD.
  5. And, as the title of the set implies, only the big-band pieces are on the Mosaic.
  6. Sent you a PM.
  7. Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already done so.
  8. Anyone willing to sell me their Anita O'Day Mosaic set or know where I can get one? PayPal is my only payment option.
  9. I was asked by SONY to write a short overview of the material, and I wrote assuming that they would be printing the personnel, as they had supplied me with all recording details including matrix and issue numbers in a neatly formatted state. Obviously the personnel details are readily available but it would have improved the listening experience if the details had been in the booklet. Bruce Does anyone know if there's any overlap with the earlier The Duke: The Columbia Years, 1927-1962 Sony 3CD box?
  10. Sure, but I had other priorities at the time.
  11. Everything I own has been offered. You're the second, after Hans, to inquire about non-existent sets. I understand if my desperation appeals to your sense of a buying opportunity but ... That's not at all what I was thinking. I know how it is to be in a desperate situation and I would not have taken advantage of that, I would have offered you a good price for the set I asked you about. I'm sorry Hans, I shouldn't have put it in those terms. I just presumed that it was clear from my thread title that this was it - everything is available. If I had these rarities, they'd have been offered, or I would have gone for the max and put them on ebay. No problem.

  13. Thanks jdw, much appreciated!
  14. Could someone please post the Mosaic Mildred Bailey discography or provide a link?'Thanks!
  15. The 1988 CD issue is the only one with the extra tracks. It was mastered by Dennis Drake and it sounds very nice. There's absolutely no need for an "upgrade", on the contrary, in my opinion this is the best version around. The music is wonderful.
  16. Fortunately, I have three Red Norvo CDs on the Scottish Hep label with lots of Mildred Bailey vocals, but I'd still like to get the Mosaic By the way, those Hep CDs were mastered by the late John R.T. Davies and they do sound great.
  17. Anyone willing to part with their Mildred Bailey Mosaic CD-set or know where I can get one? PayPal is my only payment option.
  18. Thanks for posting the links. Scott is a great guy.
  19. Funny how tastes differ I really hated OP's organ playing, sounded to me like an evening at the ice-rink... I wonder what you think of the stuff-with-strings. I liked Eldridge's playing for the most part, but I returned the set to Mosaic because of the organ playing, the strings and the - to my ears - horrible dixieland date; plus, a few discs didn't play on my CD transport. Only up to disc 3 (Roy & Diz). The second session has strings and I liked that a lot. No, I thought it was RAVISHING! Of course, OP's organ is ice rink-ish. No harm in that when it swings as powerfully as it does in "Dale's wail". Who the hell was Dale, by the way? Roy Rogers' girl friend? MG Well, I never liked ice-skating and I dislike jazz-with-organ, jazz-with-strings and everything "greaze"

  21. A good tournament. Spain were the best and most consistent team and deserve to be the champions. Very well done
