  1. I wonder if these Mosaic sales will result in one or two sets ending up on their Running Low or even Last Chance lists...
  2. Sorry to throw cold water on your suggestion, but if Mosaic's current offerings are selling slowly, I can't imagine that the ones you suggest will exactly fly off the shelves. I can understand Mosaic's caution. I agree. I don't think the avant-garde etc. will sell any better than the "bourgeois" stuff, on the contrary. Maybe, maybe not. You're probably right. All I know is that the catalog is looking awfully stale these days, from my perspective, and I've bought more than 20 of their sets, counting Selects and boxes. They keep offering these sales and I keep looking at what's available and thinking, "Nah, I'll pass." I'd like it if they came out with something that would surprise me a little bit, maybe target a different audience, maybe bring in some new customers, even. I think that's what Mosaic Contemporary is all about. Not necessarily YOUR type of music - but an attempt to bring in new customers. I've thought Mosaic Contemporary was a mistake for a while (well, since they announced it, actually). People who might possibly like that kind of music surely aren't going to be attracted to Mosaic by the availability of a few things when there is so much that's as good (from that point of view) available anyway, at lower prices. It's not generally my kind of music, but I think Face's idea isn't bad. MG I doubt they'd recoup the investment needed for the licensing, research, mastering, etc. of an avant-garde set or something similar.
  3. I just ordered a set and everything went smoothly
  4. It should be noted that these titles are being issued on a type of disc that is being called an "SHM-CD". Supposedly, the plastic used for the CD is a special, low-loss plastic like the plastic used for LCD displays. The claim is that this material will allow the laser to track better and cause less jitter. Sounds far-fetched to me, but some people may want to give one a try. Thanks for the info, Kevin. I'll pass, I've had enough "sonic upgrades"

  6. Thanks for clearing that. I have the 1201 (or is it 2101? whaterver, it's that DA Music/Black Lion successor label) version of "Reaching Out", with all the bonus tracks, but I haven't got it with me... seems "Gettin' into Somethin'" I don't have. I have one more though, that's been released under several others' name, I think. Mine is under Flanagan's and on Prevue and OMITS the bonus track that were part of another reissue (I think on Black Lion under KD's name). Anyway, Frank Haynes is there, too, and doing great! Is "Gettin' into Somethin'" available? If not, Lonehill might be my way of choice - though maybe not, as I always enjoyed Sony/Legacy reissues a lot soundwise, and I'm sure these will sound good, too! (Koch even though they had that HD stuff going on, always kind of left me indifferent, but then I own only five or six Koch CDs.) Gettin' into Somethin' is only available on the Lonehill 2CD-set. It was available on LP a while ago, but as far as I know that's now OOP.
  7. When I ordered from UK Amazon (earlier this week) 17.5 percent VAT was added during the check-out process. I was surprised; thought they had to include VAT from the start. That's strange, EU Amazon prices always included VAT before check-out - I just remembered that during the check-out process prices were adjusted to include the VAT percentage of the EU country the customer lives in. Maybe they've changed it and just add VAT at the end.
  8. EU Amazon prices include tax. For orders to destinations outside the EU tax is deducted.
  9. Remember to include couw's booklet with it, that's worth more than the original anyway! And don't forget couw's piece of the €5000 cake, either
  10. You should I don't think so. Besides, I read some of her work years ago and didn't like it (that's not really an opinion, it's just how I felt about it). My former girlfriend had quite a few of her books - I don't remember any titles, though.
  11. You should I don't think so.
  12. Apparently still no Gettin' into Somethin', Dave Bailey's remaining Epic album.
  13. I agree, they should have honoured Greene while still alive. Haven't read that much Lessing, so I can't give an opinion on her work.
  14. When the delivery time is 4-6 weeks, it usually means an item is not available. It's standard Amazon lingo for unavailable stuff.

  16. Could be... but then there's been so many BN reissues in the past years, and some albums have come out several times within short periods of time, so I guess there's no need. And honestly, not much interest here for more BN Mosaics, either... there's lots of other much more interesting ground for them to cover! Dan Gould and I want a Three Sounds box. MG And I want a whole lot of other stuff, but the main thing now is the survival of Mosaic... I think a Three Sounds box would make a good contribution to that cause. MG But a box like that would probably need a huge investment before it would generate some money and I understand they need cash now.
  17. Why not have an even LONGER look and reverse your decision - that is one of the best ever Mosaic sets in my opinion.
  18. ..And 10 - 15% off the prices of the big sets. See also this thread. The sale ends October 14.

  20. I think you would like it ! Great set!
  21. I think it was Reinier who recently posted that according to Michael Cuscuna sales are very slow and steadily falling...
  22. Forgot a link to Mosaic.
