  1. Thanks jdw, much appreciated!
  2. Could someone please post the Mosaic Mildred Bailey discography or provide a link?'Thanks!
  3. The 1988 CD issue is the only one with the extra tracks. It was mastered by Dennis Drake and it sounds very nice. There's absolutely no need for an "upgrade", on the contrary, in my opinion this is the best version around. The music is wonderful.
  4. Fortunately, I have three Red Norvo CDs on the Scottish Hep label with lots of Mildred Bailey vocals, but I'd still like to get the Mosaic By the way, those Hep CDs were mastered by the late John R.T. Davies and they do sound great.
  5. Anyone willing to part with their Mildred Bailey Mosaic CD-set or know where I can get one? PayPal is my only payment option.
  6. Thanks for posting the links. Scott is a great guy.
  7. Funny how tastes differ I really hated OP's organ playing, sounded to me like an evening at the ice-rink... I wonder what you think of the stuff-with-strings. I liked Eldridge's playing for the most part, but I returned the set to Mosaic because of the organ playing, the strings and the - to my ears - horrible dixieland date; plus, a few discs didn't play on my CD transport. Only up to disc 3 (Roy & Diz). The second session has strings and I liked that a lot. No, I thought it was RAVISHING! Of course, OP's organ is ice rink-ish. No harm in that when it swings as powerfully as it does in "Dale's wail". Who the hell was Dale, by the way? Roy Rogers' girl friend? MG Well, I never liked ice-skating and I dislike jazz-with-organ, jazz-with-strings and everything "greaze"

  9. A good tournament. Spain were the best and most consistent team and deserve to be the champions. Very well done
  10. Beware if you don't like jazz-with-strings, there's quite a lot of it.
  11. It's on my list - see link in first post and under my signature below.
  12. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel just told me this Select will be out "sometime this summer".
  13. I am he whom you seek. Unfortunately, I sold it about a month ago. Best of luck with your search. Thanks for letting me know
  14. Mosaic's Scott Wenzel told me the box is expected to come out in August or September 2008. Mosaic's upcoming releases - scroll down for the Peterson box: "Coming up in the era he did, Oscar Peterson fell somewhere in between the swing players and the be-boppers, and the two strains wove together into something he never felt any reason to abandon. He and Ray Brown had developed an almost brotherly relationship thanks to the JATP tours they did together, and in Barney Kessel he found another player whose solos could wipe the floor, the walls, and the ceiling. With the JATP tours combined with these Clef and Mercury recordings the trio found the time and opportunity to hone their craft together and become a tight unit. Norman Granz’ vision of the “Songbook” album, was perfected by the trio and the series of “Oscar Peterson Meets…” have long been unavailable and are finally in one package. The collection includes 127 tunes, including five alternate masters that have never appeared on any record, in any format. The earliest recording dates from November 25, 1951 and the last is from December 7, 1953. In the interest of being complete, we amassed a collection that exceeds even the one held in the Universal Music vaults; with some original masters missing entirely, we went to collectors for vintage 78s, second generation tapes, even rare LPs and EPs, performing sonic miracles when necessary to achieve a quality that meets our Mosaic standards."
  15. I'm still looking for this set. Somebody here offered it to me some time ago, but unfortunately I lost their PM. Perhaps they could contact me again.
  16. Could someone post the Mosaic Chico Hamilton set discography or a link. Thanks. The link that Claude posted earlier in this thread doesn't work anymore.
  17. Great, so it's all solved then, you can leave the forum again. Very nice, but judging by past experiences that's to be expected of you, I suppose. I'll take your advice and leave again.
  18. OK, I wasn't going to post on Org anymore, but I really have to step in. Porcy62 and Red, you're both wrong. Van Nistelrooij was ON-side when he scored the first Dutch goal. The rules say that a defender who steps or falls behind the line stays in-play in a case like this, so the Italian defender behind the line must be counted. It's different with strikers, once they step behind the line they're out of play. I don't know why there's a difference between strikers and defenders, but that's the rule. The referee was correct and the goal was a good one. It might be, though italian international referees said just the opposite you say, their interpretation is that if a defender, behind the line, can engage in the play is to be counted, but Panucci clearly wasn't, since he was down, anyway there will be some rumours about it, and the FIFA will explain. Nevertheless Netherland deserved to win, at least for the poor defence of italians, yes, Red, Cannavaro is a big loss. BTW Welcome back, J.A.W. A UEFA rules official has already explained; he said exactly what I posted above. Whether or not the defender is able to take part in the play is not relevant.

  20. I can loose control and I can be unpolite like everybody's else. I am an adult with a lot of flaws like everybody's else, I am not claiming I am THE PERFECT MAN, nobody here is it. When I was wrong or unpolite, and I was, I apologized and recognized my fault. That's adulthood for me. Nobody here will chasing you around internet in order to threaten your personal life or you family or your reputation. It's a forum, a discussion board, discussions can be harsh and nasty, as well as interesting or useless. For me adulthood implies you can manage all this. If you're interested in other's POV. So being able to apologize afterwards makes it OK to be rude and impolite? And that is proof of adulthood in your view? I couldn't disagree more. We clearly live in two very different worlds. It might be an idea to think twice and proof read a post (and remove any name calling and rudeness) before hitting the reply button. That way you wouldn't have to apologize afterwards No, we live in the very same world. We just have a different POV and temper. I presume you never apologized for anything you did in your life, because you never lost control nor your politeness and never did a mistake. I envy you and your cold blood. No name calling in this post, so no apologize in the next one Thanks for calling me cold-blooded, very nice. Of course I made many mistakes and of course I apologized many times, but that is not the point here. If there's something I hate, it's bad manners and rudeness and I will avoid that in my posts, and that (bad manners and rudeness in posts) is what we're talking about in this discussion, not about the way we behave in the real world - we know nothing about each other and our behaviour outside this forum, so let's leave that out of this. I think we made our points of view clear and I don't see any point in going on.

  22. Cheer up, after rereading the thread, which was actually quite funny, I didn't really come across "offensive remarks" or "personal attacks". IMO this is called "discussion". Calling people names like was done here isn't funny in my view, it's degrading and ill-mannered. Have fun with "discussions' like that, I won't be part of it anymore.
  23. Steve gets to speak negatively about other engineer's work and that seems to be ok. That's the part I don't like. If we say something negative about Steve, we're taking food from his children's mouths. If only Steve was as concerned about these other engineers, if only..... Well, it's part of the business as well: speaking negatively against your competitors. I mean if I remastered Soul Station and RVG did the same, speaking negatively about RVG would push my product. Welcome to the free trade. That's all fine with me except the part where he and his gorts sqash any negativity towards Steve and his work because it's against the forum's policies. (Happened to see this post and thought I'd reply) No, it's because they feel that negativity towards Steve Hoffman and his work can harm his business interests and threaten his livelihood as a result. Please note that this is not what I think, it's how Steve Hoffman and the gorts at his forum see it. I don't think Jim would take it kindly if members would post anything negative here about him, his playing and his band - such negativity would certainly not bring in more dates, would it... Sorry, J.A.W. but you asked for it. From my point of view, running up a forum in order to promote your work is absolutely legal and legit. Deleting 'negative' posts or critics is absolutely legal, though not very 'elegant' (but, hey it's THE RULE, if you don't like it post elsewhere). Denigrating your competitor's work, aka RVG or Bernie Grundmann or anyonelse, is frankly disgusting and I am not sure it's absolutely legal. I mean everytime all the SH's gorts jump at the throat of every other remastering engineers, a part Mr. Hoffman, they are threating their livelihoods. If I were a competitor of SH I probably could sue his gorts and mr. H. for slander and damage. About Jim and Organissimo. First have a look at this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=33019 Second I don't think Jim would delete a post where someone said his last cd is not at the same level of Larry Young' Unity...isn't it? Please read my posts carefully and don't put words into my mouth - I never said anything about Steve Hoffman condemning the work of other mastering engineers; as a matter of fact I don't think he should do that, but that's not the point in my posts. I was explaining why negativity towards him and his work is not tolerated on his forum, that's all. By the way, I think the rudeness and insults in some of the previous posts do not help getting the message across and it says a lot about this forum and some of its members that offensive remarks and personal attacks are made and allowed here. It's got nothing to do with freedom of expression, it's just mud slinging, nothing else. I didn't put words into your mouth. I express my opinion about your post and developped the issue: defending SH livelihood by his gorts in the way they often did damage other remastering engineers's reputation. About "freedom of expression", well, Clem is Clem, Chuck is Chuck, Chris is Chris and I am me...adulthood implies you can deal with people with different opinions and writing styles. If you are offended by them, you should be able to ask for an explanation or apologizes if you think you deserve it and clear the issue without leaving. That's my opinion. You are talking about adulthood? Calling people names like you did isn't really proof of adulthood (or of civilized behaviour, for that matter) in my view and is totally unnecessary.
