  1. Any news? Chris?
  2. According to my very old copy of PRESTIGE JAZZ RECORDS 1949-1971: a discography by Michel Ruppoli, the session you mention is the 1st listed. Recorded in NY on January 11, 1949, it is credited to the Lennie Tristano Quintet. Hope that helps. Correct, the 1980 edition of the Ruppli discography has the same info.
  3. The list was revised by Hiroshi Tanno.

  5. I don't think he would have left so many of his buyers out in the cold, that's not his style.
  6. He did, but he was still posting after he'd moved.
  7. I posted the same question in his "Pimpin' my eBay" thread over on JC, where he posted more regularly than here anyway - though not since January 12...
  8. Anyone know what happened? Shrugs hasn't posted here since November last year, and judging by the recent stream of neutral and negative feedbacks on eBay (seller ID: shrugs), he seems to have vanished into thin air...
  9. I don't know if you're referring to the Floyd in general here, or just to Animals, but I'm 58 and still loving Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets...
  10. It still seems to be available from Fantasy. You can order directly from them.
  11. I don't desire this set. Still, thanks for the posting the information. I'm concerned the Capitol Jazz box will go to Running Low soon. Scott Wenzel (Mosaic) told me last year the Capitol Jazz set would very likely remain available through 2005. By the way, the Milburn Mosaic is a great set if you're into Texas/West Coast Blues/R&B. Highly recommended!
  12. A long time ago I read in an interview somewhere that Milt Jackson felt the same way. Away from the MJQ, like on his Riverside albums, he sounded more or less "liberated" (for lack of a better term).
  13. Thanks Lon. I hope you don't mind me saying so, but that's a creepy avatar...
  14. Talking about taking drastic action...
  15. Thanks for inviting me back, guys, I appreciate it. Good to see it's not all negativity, arrogance and aggression on this board after all.
  16. Thanks. The 2005 Connoisseurs thread inspired me to come out of hibernation - at least for now.
  17. (this thread made me decide to come out of hibernation and post here) I'm looking forward to some of these new Connoisseurs. I assume Ron McMaster will remaster them, and I really hope they will sound better than some of his more recent, i.e. 2000-2004 work, like for instance his Lou Donaldson Mosaic remastering; Scott Wenzel (Mosaic) told me that according to Michael Cuscuna mr McMaster didn't use compression, but that's exactly how this set sounds: compressed/very, very loud and aggressive, and no-noised; it makes my ears bleed...
  18. Hear, hear! (And I'm not a fan of Styx either, on the contrary)
  19. Well, apparently our perceptions of humor are very different.
  20. It's the endless recurrence of the same comments, remarks and arguments (re WM, Crouch or Phil Schaap, for instance) from both sides over and over again that gets really boring in my view. Ignoring them is a problem, as they're also cropping up in threads where you don't expect them... Edited to try and clarify what I mean.
  21. Couldn't agree more. I think we all know by now who dislikes whom and why.
  22. Cripes... Is it really necessary to crap this thread with negative comments about someone who isn't even the subject of the thread...
  23. So do I.
