  1. Benedetti's own playing?
  2. Must admit that I didn't like it very much. The electric stuff was not my cup of jazz, so to speak, and didn't care much for the rest. To each their own
  3. Yep, for €50.55 or about $67.50 plus shipping. There's also one on Amazon France for €40 or about $53.50 plus shipping. It's a bit more than the original poster has in mind
  4. I'm sure Mr Uehlinger will reissue it sooner or later, like he always does with many hatwhatever discs.
  5. I've searched a zillion European and North American stores, but couldn't find it. As you probably know it's sold out according to the HatHut site.
  6. He was born on August 13, 1921 and is still with us at age 90. Ace (U.K.) released 2 excellent CDs with his late 1940s/early 1950s Modern recordings: Amazon, Amazon U.K.
  7. It's not tons of space in all of Joe's solos, but I seem to remember he pepper's a fair number of his solos with space here and there (for longer than you might have been expecting) amid what is otherwise (arguably) a flurry of notes. Or at least that's how I remember hearing Joe's playing. But, he's definitely not a "minimalistic" continuously. Although, come to think of it, he is rather fond of taking a small cell and repeating it over and over in a sort of "minimalistic" way -- so I think he fits in that regard too (in the "classical music" sense/definition of Minimalism). "he pepper's"? Sorry, couldn't resist...
  8. You forgot to mention that this is for U.S. residents only.
  9. Thanks for clearing that up. I hadn't checked Bruyninckx. Sorry for the confusion, Mark.
  10. You're right, though there also seems to a Black & Blue LP called Epistrophy. I believe the Muse album (MR 5002) hasn't been released on CD either. [edit] The album Mark is looking for seems to be a twofer with 2 original albums combined: Now's the Time from 1972 and Epistrophy from 1981.
  11. As far as I know this Black & Blue album was never released on CD.
  12. A Love Supreme is an impulse! album, not a Blue Note.
  13. Too rich for my blood... While it was fun to see them play (in more than one way) in the early days, I was never really a big fan.
  14. Not only Bailey's Epic albums, but also his JazzLine and JazzTime recordings. I asked Michael Cuscuna about these and he'd very much like to reissue them, but, as so often, the rights could be a problem.
  15. The Mingus Candid Mosaic CD-set has 19 tracks: Folk Forms No.1 Original Faubus Fables What Love All the Things You Could Be By Now If Sigmund Freud's Wife Was Your Mother Stormy Weather Melody from the Drums Reincarnations of a Love Bird (first session) Vasserlean MDM Bugs Reincarnations of a Love Bird (second session) Lock 'Em Up Mysterious Blues Body and Soul Body and Soul (alternate take) R&R Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams (alternate take) Me and You Both alternate takes were added to the CD set. The LP-set booklet does not list them.
  16. Can't answer that, but I guess the answer would be the Mingus Candids. I had the Japanese Candids but sold them a long time ago when I got the Mosaic, which has much better sound (at least to my ears) than those Japanese CDs. One of the Candids (can't remember which one) had a very weird stereo effect, which the Mosaic doesn't have.
  17. So did Fats Navarro and a bunch of folks from his generation. Very funny. I inadvertently hit the "add reply" button when I was still editing my post - see my corrected post above.
  18. The Mosaic has 26 tracks: Air (5 takes) Number One (2 takes) This Nearly Was Mine (1 take) E.B. (1 take) Lazy Afternoon (1 take) Port of Call (2 takes) Davis (2 takes) O.P. (2 takes) Cell Walk for Celeste (3 takes) I Forgot (1 take) Section C (1 take) Jumpin' Punkins (2 takes) Things Ain't What They Used to Be (2 takes) Cindy's Main Mood (1 take)
  19. Correct. This is one of the public-domain labels that don't have access to original sources such as master tapes. Not for me, but others' mileage may vary.
  20. Seek and Ye Shall Find (how's that for an atheist? ) The "View New Content" link is at the top right-hand corner, right under your name and the search bar. Okay you are referring to "Recent Topics Added." No, I am referring to the top right-hand corner where it says "Forum Rules - PLEASE READ! View New Content" on my screen, just under the search bar and above "Recent Topics Added".

  22. Since I resigned as a moderator I don't visit 13 of the 23 fora anymore and I only rarely visit a few of the others.
  23. Same here.
  24. How do we vote if we are not on Facebook? I was wondering about that too.
