I think you mean MJT+3, led by Walter Perkins. It was indeed Chicago-based. Personnel of the original group: Paul Serrano (trumpet), Nicky Hill (tenor saxophone), Muhal Richard Abrams (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass) and Walter Perkins (leader, drums). They recorded for Argo in 1957; the album was released on CD in Japan and recently reissued with Paul Serrano's album Blues Holiday on a "2LPs-on-1CD" by Fresh Sound. Later MJT+3 personnel: Willie Thomas (trumpet), Frank Strozier (alto saxophone), Harold Mabern (piano), Bob Cranshaw (bass) and Walter Perkins (leader, drums). They recorded for VeeJay in 1959-1960; those recordings were reissued on CD by Koch.

His two VeeJay albums were The Fantastic Frank Strozier and Cool, Calm and Collected.

I must admit that I'm more familiar with Boulez as a conductor - with a strong feeling for the structure of a composition - than as a composer. Which of his works do you prefer, his earlier period or later compositions? I'm not a fan of electronic stuff.

Avid is one of the European public-domain labels. They don't have access to original sources like master tapes.

I bought a lot of records from Craig back in my (long gone) LP days and never had a complaint.

On what theory is played two times vs one time (or many more times) informative about condition? Discs played a thousand times are indistinguishable from discs played once, or never, if they are handled in such a way that they don't get dropped or scuffed in some way. If these were LPs, "played once" means something (assuming there aren't any manufacturing flaws like "bubbles"). CDs, not so much. I agree. I think it'd be more helpful to grade the sets and booklets the usual way ("very good", "excellent", "near mint"). There's an excellent grading system on another board: Mint (M): Looks like the wrapper just came off. No marks of any kind anywhere on the complete package. Mint minus (M-) or Near Mint (NM): Very near perfect playing surface and artwork. When held at an angle under extreme lighting you can see perhaps 1 or 2 very light scratches or pin dots. Excellent (Exc.):CDs in this condition look used, but like they were taken good care of. Only a few very light scuffs can be seen when the disc is held at an angle to the light. The booklet and inserts are present and have only a few very minor flaws such as a slight bend or light fingerprints Very Good plus (VG+): No more than 10 very light to light scratches between 1/8" and 2". Artwork has case dents or a crease. Plays perfectly. Very Good (VG) : CDs in this condition are more for listening to than collecting. The disc is heavily scratched but can be played through without skipping. The booklet and inserts are present but heavily worn, and may include heavy fingerprints, bent corners, smudges, creases, case dimple marks, and writing. Poor (P): Car CD or Cat toy Another thought: it would also help to know how many CDs a box has.

My thoughts exactly. Before I retired I represented my employer (a government agency) in a zillion court cases all over the country and at almost every court I had to go through security, with officers checking everything I had with me. Refusal would surely have led to problems, morons or no morons. Not cooperating is asking for trouble.

Guys like that won't think twice. You can't overturn thousands of years of tradition. I understand that you'd like vindication, closure and revenge, and I'd feel the same way, but realistically I'd say you'd do yourself a favor by moving on. As you say, there are worse cases out there that aren't getting satisfactory resolution, so what do you really have to gain? But if you pursue it you're setting yourself up for plenty of agita and tsuris. Good advice. Time to move on.
