  1. Your site doesn't work with Firefox 2.0 on a Windows XP machine. No images, except for the stock photo of the headphone.
  2. Mammalian titles for new tunes written on the changes from On Green Dolphin Street. On Black and White Dolphin Street. On Irawaddy Dolphin Street. (definitely the most cartoon friendly of the dolphins) On Pink Dolphin Street. On Dolphin that everyone thinks is a Whale Street.
  3. Probably something to do with Montreal.
  4. You are best off buying a full set of bars.
  5. Generally speaking, rappers (MCs) don't use drum machines or samplers. Rappers (MCs) use microphones. In the end, it doesn't matter whether or not I, or anyone, thinks that J Dilla was a musician. The sounds he combined, and the rhythms he combined them with, were musical.
  6. Presonus comes with Cubase LE. I guess I owe some thanks as well! I ended up with a pair of Marshall MXL 903s, Firebox, and Bluetube. I'm using Ableton Live.
  7. I'm also showing 5.99
  8. the format of that blotter leads me to believe it is heavily dipped.
  9. RZA. The Abbot.
  10. The first time Wu Tang came into town, they did it up at a place formerly known as THE PALOMINO. Yes, there was a mechanical bull. The whole crew! UGOD too! Car trunks full of merchandise. CASH only. Those were the early days. We couldn't believe they were here, much less at THE PALOMINO. Random booking for sure. Ghostface was here this winter, only at a smaller club generally reserved for hardcore, metal, etc. Another random booking considering he released the best album in his class this year. I don't know what everyone else has seen, but from here, it looks like Wu Tang likes to operate in the shadows. Let Jay-Z be the new ambassador. Let him have tea with Oprah. If that is how he defines success, so be it.
  11. Great. Now we're blaming Michael Jordan for 'killing jazz'?
  12. Damn, Noj... as far as realism goes, that painting is ultra-real. Great work.
  13. This thing is cool. I just came across the engadget article by accident not 10 minutes ago. Definitely more than a phone. Blackberry will lose a chunk of its market, though this thing runs OSX if I'm not mistaken. Also introduced iTV.
  14. I wasn't sure what Scott meant by 'fake' at first. Photochopped? I don't think the artist REALLY captured the likeness of Jolie. This is not the best example of realism. I think the concept is what is attracting the buzz. If you ask me, I say "big deal." Show me some more NOJ work.
  15. I'm not a rap fan, myself - but when I made my statement that someone should do a rap/Ayleresque soloing fusion, I meant it. I have an instinct that it would work. Neither Rap and Ayler seem much like "music". Simon Weil I'm not sure I understand the concept. Can you draw comparisons?
  16. I keep asking myself the same questions I was hunting for in the 21st Century thread. I'm looking forward to further discussion on this topic via PM from a couple of members who expressed interest in taking the conversation in an alternate direction from the one it ended up taking. Basically, I just don't see what kind of big business would further invest in the music industry. It has been said over and over, here on these boards, and elsewhere, that they just don't care about the music. To many of us, music is a passion. Mega-profits would not even come into play as a factor. I truly believe that the recording industry, at one point in time, thrived on passion. It was run by people who were truly passionate about music. Big business came along, saw the potential profits and made a pop culture out of it. These profits are disappearing. I hope that big businesses back out. Soon. Or at least back away. I'm sorry, but anyone with intentions of getting rich by investing in the recording and marketing of other people's music is delusional. The fact that this was, at any time, a viable opportunity to make a shit-ton of money, is upsetting.
  17. I have to admit, this cover sticks out in my memory much more than most. The photograph is a little out of focus (maybe its just the scan), but I like the colors a lot. I like.
  18. I don't know all that much about economics, but it sounds like what you are calling for here is inflation. Artificial increase in stock prices due to demand? No, it isn't inflation. Guy What is that called? A buying frenzy? I'm sure there's a term for it.
  19. I don't know all that much about economics, but it sounds like what you are calling for here is inflation. Artificial increase in stock prices due to demand? I think most financial analysts would agree that the balance sheet is still more important than demand, long-term anyway. Also sounds like a decrease in the federal minimum wage. Honestly, I think it is WAY more complicated than that, what with cause and effect and all. My question is why these major corporations maintain the rights to this music (assets?) if they are just going to store it up in the attic.
  20. Big fan.
  21. That's a shame.
  22. Do you consider Monday to be jazz, or just to have elements of jazz in her music?
  23. I had an album by that trio once. I couldn't connect. People really seem to like Abercrombie. What would be your one recommendation for his music? I was just listening to Dona Nostra this evening. Great shit.
