  1. Hell yeah it is. Introduced to me in person by Jim, Joe, and Shawn down in Dallas a few years back. I still haven't bought that Lucky Thompson disc we listened to, but I had to get Smokin' as soon as I got home! All you b-3 fans, how many of the players listed above play bass pedals? I was talking to someone the other night about Larry Young and they said he played bass with his left hand. Listening to stuff like Iron City and Talkin' Bout, it seems that he is playing bass with is feet, comping with his left, and playing melodies with his right. I'm trying to wrap my ear around it. One thing I dig about Babyface is that he is really working that thing with all his limbs! He really gets it moving. I'm talking about Stop And Listen. Haven't been lucky enough to come across Face To Face...
  2. What about a Firewire PCI adapter?
  3. As I understand it, this is exactly what decreases the battery-life. I had to have a battery replaced last month and have been letting the battery meter disappear completely until a message comes up saying there is not enough battery power to function, please recharge. I didn't know this about rechargeable batteries... if you recharge them at 1/2 capacity, that is the new maximum life of the battery. If you recharge them from 1/4 capacity, 3/4 of the original battery-life becomes the new maximum capacity. Does that make sense? Seems ridiculous to me, but this is what I've been told. So, if you always have the thing plugged in, you should be ok right? I'm not sure. I would make sure that you have a full battery, or an empty battery before plugging in. Just be careful not to plug it in at 99% capacity!
  4. PM sent!
  5. di! I've been wondering where you disappeared to! Good to see you over here. I enjoyed your posts at BNBB.
  6. Yeah, I got into a discussion about this recently. People talking about rock tunes being the "new standard." My stance was that it is sort of novel, and in the end felt ironic, listening to jazz musicians taking on rock tunes. I am much less interested in the improvisational possibilities of a five piece doing Radiohead, or what have you. The arguement was that showtunes were at one time the popular music, that bebop musicians were taking familiar material and turning it out, and that that is exactly what is going on today. I disagree. If you ask me, the "new standard" is new composition.
  7. Bertrand, Actually, I think you probably do want 0 as your default. Any space programmed into the album will remain. Making 0 your default means that itunes will not ADD additional space between tracks. FWIW, there is also a crossfade option. If you cannot get rid of the 2 second spacer, you might want to try turning the crossfade option on at 2 seconds. This has worked well for me on certain lists. Good luck!
  8. Bertrand, Jim is right. In iTunes, go to Preferences, then click "Burning." For "Gap Between Songs," choose "None." Click OK and this will now be your new default. I hope this helps. edit: sounds like it won't now that I've read dogus' post.
  9. I'd heard Epcot has come a long way since the last time I was there, but this is just incredible. It almost seems real.
  10. It was released January, and I'm still saying it is my favorite release of 2004. It blended everything I was listening to at the time into one cohesive music. These guys just keep getting better, in my opinion.
  11. I'm wondering if we have another DIALOGUE situation on our hands. Can anyone else comment please. I know this was an AOTW once, but none of the static was mentioned. Thanks.
  12. That is a creepy creepy link.
  13. Hello all. A friend of mine lent me a copy of his Byrd In Hand RVG today and pointed out a couple of tunes where he heard some strange surface noise. I hear something on "Here I Am" around the 5:47 mark, and "Devil Whip" around 2:05. Does anyone else hear the static at these times? Thanks. Cary
  14. Got mine today! Thanks man!
  15. I never received mine. I don't know if anyone from RI received there's. I'd love to get a copy! Also, did I sign up for your test? I can't remember! Thanks!
  16. The Prisoner by a large margin. I like grease, and didn't think of the 27th Man as grease. I actually sold it back a couple of weeks after I bought it... a little lite in my opinion.
  17. Did any RIslanders receive a disc? Just curious.
  18. Chalupa, I believe this was posted here just days ago: Click here:
  19. Its called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Greatness.
  20. I just realized that I am missing the tri-tone sub. I wish I knew how to do flash. I would animate this circle by key. Thanks for diagram Jim!
  21. I've recreated Coltrane's circle, as posted by Jim. It was so small...
  22. Happy Birthday! I didn't know you moved to SF. Good luck in your new place.
  23. Happy Birthday! Thanks for the radio shows! I've been enjoying the archives!
  24. Dmitry! Happy Birthday! Enjoy a glass of horseradish vodka... we'll have to catch up next week.
  25. I'm sure she isn't talking about it as "just music" either.
