  1. Hey, aren't you prog dudes s into Sparta, At the Drive-in, The Mars Volta?
  2. I started listening seriously when I was two. By three, I was already telling people that music was dead.
  3. Those shirts! I just love listening to this album. So much fun.
  4. On a scale of one to five, I think this record is fucking awesome.
  5. I have MacFlac. No complaints.
  6. Honestly, if I didn't already know about organissimo and I saw this sleeve at a shop, I don't think I would bite. Fortunately, I know about organissimo and know that the music is going to be of a different caliber.
  7. Reminds me of one of those Legends of Acid Jazz covers. Any chance you will be using metallic inks? I'm a patron. Looking forward to hearing it!
  8. yeah. i heart itunes.
  9. I had an old 20GB hardwired into my car stereo. It got stolen. I really can't imagine ever needing more. The 16GB phone seems like a steal at $299 in July. I have ripped the majority of my CDs and listen at home through the squeezebox.
  10. Nadal's excuse? I don't think he needs one. I'd consider his youth and the fact that Federer has been at the top of his game in the four years since Nadal's arrival. Definitely looking forward to Wimbledon this year!
  11. Dude, something like eleven unforced errors in a three straight set win against possibly the world's greatest tennis player ever? Hell of a day for a twenty two year old. Near perfection. He has NO competition on clay and contends Federer on grass. This is not a fluke.
  12. just an example... not that i'm in the market for tv on the radio on vinyl.
  13. I'll tell you what is going to kill this "vinyl resurgence" real quick. The price of a new record. Return to Cookie Mountain $30.00? Please. $6.99 at yourmusic.
  14. I had a queue that was 24 months long. I set it up and forgot about it. Its been great. I go in every once in a while and bump something up to the top. I got Seven Black Butterflies this way.
  15. I was at the only shop left in Chapel Hill yesterday and they had dozens of Sun Ra LPs, Moondog, ESP, Soul Jazz, Trojan, Ornette, Trane, etc. $18+. Not to mention the "classic rock" section, which was full of psych records that I had never heard of! I was actually surprised at how deep the selection was.
  16. A bunch of musicians (who normally play jazz/noise/improv/anything but pop) from Richmond VA were hired as her band for the last album. Some of them went on tour with her! Sounds like she is good people. I heard from the drummer that the producer had them record each tune a few dozen times at varying tempos... 100bpm, 101bpm, 100.5 bpm, 99.5bpm, etc.! Each tempo in varying keys as well. Outrageous.
  17. "Would You Rather" It was introduced to me by a group of people in Astoria, of all places. My answer to one of Dan's questions, though, is, without question, Maria Sharapova. Grace Kelly was beautiful. I don't know that I've ever seen any of her movies. Recommendations? Hey Lon, if you do get around to setting up that studio, you ought to rethink your seating... airline seats are the worst!
  18. Shanghai?
  19. No thanks. We just planted live oaks instead. Much better choice to begin with. Anything that grows as slowly as a live oak has my respect. We have one in the back, probably not seventy years old. I don't know. We have some very old live oaks in this area. Many of them were destroyed during the Civil War, but you can't imagine the breadth of the trunk until you are standing at it. Such amazing trees. And the old ones along the coast are so gnarly. I'm always amazed. I have some great photos. I can post them some time.
  20. Nice interview with Pedro Costa of Clean Feed. I'm not at all familiar with this blog. I came across the link on a myspace page of all places. Fight The Big Bull gets a mention. http://likerainwhispersmist.blogspot.com/2...ed-records.html
  21. Richmond is a town full of trombonists. I'm not sure why exactly, but most of the bands that I have seen in Richmond all have a trombone player! I know four of them personally.
  22. Jim, You can "pollard" a Bradford Pear to avoid that top-heavy weakness. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollarding
  23. This is another group that my brother is involved in. The Richmond-Times Dispatch posted some footage of two selections on their site. Click Here Through a Glass Darkly The Silence Curious what y'all think...
  24. I don't know. This is an album that I somehow came away with after a move in college. No idea who's it was. I'm pretty sure it is at my parents house buried underneath a stack of CDs behind some family pictures in their stereo cabinet. I honestly can't REMEMBER the music on it. I listened to it a couple of times, trying to figure out who's it was. I didn't think the music was that good personally. Maybe I owe chew chew another listen listen. Aside from still turning people on to Pet Sounds, I'm not a huge Beach Boys fan anyway, so I may not be the yard rule here.
