  1. Just picked this one up today on Reservoir. Beautiful mellow stuff from Barry and his quintet recorded live somewhere in New York on August 17, 2002. The CD doesn't mention the venue. Any guesses or suggestions as to where the CD was recorded?
  2. I know this is a real longshot but would it be great to have the following Barbara Carroll RCA recordings together in one Mosaic set. The set would include: Barbara Carroll Trio -1953 Gatefold LP Lullabies in Rhythm Have You Met Miss Carroll? It's A Wonderful World We Just Couldn't Say Goodbye In addition, there were some Barbara Carroll tracks that were issued on RCA Extended Play sets and various RCA compilations and "samplers". Would be nice to have them all together in one Mosaic. Unfortunately, we'll probably see the Complete Bay City Rollers Mosaic set before this ever happens.
  3. Ah, if only I could go back 5-6 years ago. (I'm sure we all have stories of hard to find great music we passed up -- this would make for an interesting thread). Talk about a steal - I saw this set for a "whopping" $80.00 about 5-6 years ago in a used CD shop and passed it up thinking it was too expensive. Unfortunately I was a student at the time and thought a used CD for more than $6.00 to $8.00 was too much. I'd be glad to trade in my degree for the Defranco Mosaic set-I'm sure I'd be happier. Thanks to Brad for the current market perspective; next time I see the Buddy DeFranco set on CD, I won't think twice about exchaging two Ben Franklins for one Buddy DeFranco Mosaic set.
  4. I see that the DeFranco-Clark Mosaic set sold for over $200.00 on ebay recently - over $50.00 per CD! Too rich for my blood.
  5. Is it just my copy or does anyone else notice a "crack" on track one "Lulu's Back In Town" at 0:53-0:55 and 1:09'-1:11 which does not appear on the Henri Renaud mastered French Sony CD? Thanks.
  6. Thanks for everyone's assistance. The Bright One CD sounds like a viable option to the long deleted and outrageously priced Mosaic set. Would greatly appreciate a track listing on the Bright One CD or a link where the tracks are listed. Amazon, J&R, allmusic.com, etc all merely list the CD as being available without posting a track or personnel listing.
  7. I've been surfing the web with no luck for a complete track listing and LP title list for the Buddy De Franco-Sonny Clark Mosaic set. I know of two CDs from Japan that I think are probably on the Mosaic set but I'm not sure. The two CDs are: The Artistry of Buddy De Franco Pretty Moods by Buddy De Franco (mini LP style packaging) - for sale at Dusty Groove Would also appreciate any info on whether more Buddy De Franco Verve LPs have been issued on CD in Japan.
  8. I'd like to see more of the Concord Jazz LPs reissued on CD including sets by Ross Tompkins, Cal Collins, Ed Bickert (Bye, Bye Baby) and Red Norvo (Red and Ross Live January 1979) just to name a few...
  9. I just read that Columbia/Legacy will be issuing a 5 CD box set in September called "For All Time" which will consist of the five Brubeck "Time" LPS: Time Out -no additional tracks Time Further Out Time Changes - first time on CD Countdown-Time In Outter Space- first time on CD Time In- first US CD release Does anyone know if these will be available individually or must we have to buy the 5CD set just to obtain the Countdown and Time Changes material previously unavailable on CD?
  10. Looking for George Barnes - Plays So Good on CD. Appreciate hearing from anyone who has a copy they're willing to sell or knows of a copy floating around in a "cut out" bin or used CD shop. Thanks. All the best, Bob
  11. Anyone looking to sell or trade a mint condition copy of Jutta Hipp Live at the Hickory House Volume 2. I have the JRVG edition and I'm not a big fan of the remastering. Would prefer the TOCJ edition. Thanks.
  12. I recently saw someone selling some very unusual Blue Note CDs from Spain on ebay. I missed placing a bid on them but would like to know if following titles are still available from Blue Note in Spain: Hank Mobley - Poppin' Blue Mitchell - Boss Horn How is the sound quality on the Spanish Blue Notes Appreciate any information regarding availability and quality of these CDs. Thanks.
  13. Thanks for the information. Anyone know where I can buy these CDs?
  14. Have any of Milton Banana's recordings on the Brazilian Odeon label from the 1960s been reissued on compact disc? If so, what albums were issued on disc? Thanks.
  15. Looking for a copy of the 1996 CD reissue of Dizzy Gillespie: The Cool World and Dizzy Goes Hollywood. If anyone's interested in selling or making a trade, please let me know. Thanks.
  16. A couple of questions about this set: How did this set come about? Motown/Gordywas a rock label not known for recording jazz nor were they associated with country and western music. Is this a trio, quartet or solo set? Has this ever been issued on CD or are there any plans to issue it on CD in the near future?
