  1. Hopefully they'll reissue the Shorty Rogers EMI and Atlantic recordings that appeared so long ago on Mosaic.
  2. What a great list. Just placed an order with amazon.uk for the MJQ Porgy and Bess and the Mann-Evans Nirvana CDs. It looks like amazon issued me a VAT discount with my order-each disc was reduced to 6.80 instead of 7.99 Thanks for posting the list. Hopefully we'll see more classic Atlantic material out on CD including Shorty Rogers The Swingin' Mr. Rogers and Clickin' With Clax and more MJQ.
  3. Nice batch of Conns. Does anyone know if the Wilson Easterly Winds Conn. will include additional material not available on the TOCJ disc?
  4. Dave Brubeck and George Shearing pack the Blue Note in NYC whenever they perform there.
  5. Thanks for the link. If only I studied French instead of Latin in high school.
  6. Thanks to a fellow board member, I've been informed that a CD I am intersted in buying is available for sale on amazon.fr. Unfortunately, I cannot read French. As such, I am a little apprehensive about placing the order. Any information regarding amazon.fr's service to North America as well as their shipping rates to the United States would be greatly appreciated. The CD I am looking to buy is Fathead: Ray Charles Presents David Newman on Rhino/Atlantic for 1350 Euro. I'm surprised Dusty Groove, Red Trumpet, etc does not carry it. Thanks for any info.
  7. Is there any word about releasing the Ray Charles Presents Fathead Newman CD in the US? If not, does anyone know where I can buy a copy at a reasonable price? Thanks.
  8. Up for a little spring air. PM if interested. Thanks for looking.
  9. Does the Gerry Mulligan Night Lights import CD issue on Verve-Philips 534 442 contain the 1965 alt take of "Night Lights' which appears on the US domestic issue?
  10. Was Dizzy Gillespie's early 1960s Philips LP "On the French Riviera" ever issued on compact disc in the US, Japan or elsewhere? If so, is it still available in Europe, Japan, etc. There's no domestic (US) CD listing of it on AMG, Tower Records etc. Thanks.

  12. Just sent you an email regarding the Kenny Burrell Conn.
  13. Up for sale or trade. Please PM me if interested. This is the 1986 DIW Japanese release of the 1959 set with Tommy Flanagan, Jimmy Garrison and Pete LaRoca. Produced by Don Schlitten CD is in clean shape but does not come with any inserts. I bought it used at a jazz record center in NYC for $20.00. While I really enjoy Monterose in Action as well as his Blue Note set, this one just doesn't do it for me. I'd be willing to trade this one for one of the following: Thad Jones/Lee Morgan - Minor Strain (Blue Note-Roulette) Emily Remler - Take Two Concord Jazz Thanks. Bob
  14. According to the "Jazzmatazz - Upcoming Releases", Rhino will be issuing the MJQ - Porgy and Bess LP on CD in May. One of the last MJQ Atlantics to be issued on CD. Hopefully Rhino will be reissuing more Atlantic material from the 1950s/1960s on CD.
  15. Does anyone know where I can purchase Bill Charlap's Venus CDs for less than $30-40/per disc as advertised on amazon.com? Does Mr. Charlap sell his Venus recordings at shows and concerts or over an internet site? Why are Venus recordings not made available to American jazz fans at a reasonable price?
  16. Any advance word on this set? If so, how does it compare with "Written in the Stars"?
  17. Was Emily Remler's Take Two, originally released in 1982 on Concord Jazzz, ever issued on compact disc? I've been looking for this one on disc with no luck. Thanks for any info or perhaps any leads.
  18. I noticed that the Al and Zoot album issued on Coral Records in 1957 has benn issued twice on compact disc. I think the first CD issue was in the early 1990s and the second issue came out in 1998 as part of MCAs "Chessmate" series. Is there any difference between the two CD issues regarding sound quality and additional tracks?
  19. Thanks for the heads up on this one. I ordered one myself and am looking forward to hearing it. I love his Blue Note session with Ira Sullivan; hope this is more of the same style.
  20. Thanks undergroundagent for the vote of confidence and thanks again for the US issue of this disc I bought from you. While the sound on the TOCJ is a shade better, I prefer the US release with the additional take of "Light Blue". What a set!
  21. I have a clean TOCJ of Stanley Turrentine - That's Where It's At. $22.00 to a US address postpaid. PM me if interested. Bob
  22. I noticed that this has been recently released as a single CD in England. Is there any word about this being reissued in the US? I know it was available as part of a 4LP/2CD set issued a few years back. I missed that 2CD set but have since picked up House of David, Fathead Comes On and Straight Ahead on Collectables. If no, does anyone have any leads as to where I can purchase this disc? Thanks.
  23. Does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of Shorty Rogers - Just A Few, a 1999 CD issued on the "Giants of Jazz" label? Amazon.com has it listed but it is "currently unavailable". I've never had any luck when obscure CDs on small labels are listed as "currently unavailable". Thanks.
