Don't hate me! I'm so underwhelmed by the RVG reissue lists when they DO appear that I thought I'd write one of my own. I bet my list is better than the real one (when we get to see it)!

I got this list a few days ago - I don't know why I didn't post it straight away. I am a bad man. But hey, they should put me in charge at Blue Note, right?

I can't wait for this year's sale! No wait, don't delete the whole thread just to get rid of one annoying remark... nOOOOOOOOO!!

I did a search for Roscoe the other day, and also searched for my own book (er... to check on its progress, you know...). I am pretty sure that is when it happened - but I have no way of working out WHAT happened! And yeah, I didn't use the word Roscoe even ONCE in that book!

Back to the Iridium box. Is this in stores yet? What's the probable retail cost? I'll be in Boston in the near future - might they have this in Newbury Comics? I'm very demanding, aren't I?

Unfortunately, many of these 1,500 Yen releases are remastered pretty loud. So unless you're looking for a specific title that you don't have and not an audio upgrade, these CDs aren't very appealing. This bums me out. I used to salivate over Japanese reissues, expecting them to sound better. Now that the Japanese mastering engineers have joined in the Loudness Wars, they're pumping out over-compressed music like everyone else. Kevin I agree about the sound. They are a good way to pick up otherwise hard-to-find titles. As far as the PJ titles go, some are remastered by RVG, others (newly) remastered by Ron McMaster. Don't ask me which ones. I guess people who like recent remasters by these two will know what to expect. The Japanese 1,500 yen TOCJ series was 24-bit mastered by Japanese Toshiba engineers, not by RVG or McMaster. Ohhhhhh. I was under the impression that the former SBJC titles were straight reissues. Am I wrong then?

FWIW, a search on hmv.co.jp reveals many titles now in the 1500 yen price slot, including recently lots of the PJ titles that came out in the SBJC 24 bit series.

I have mastered the art of resisting this compulsion. It took many years. When you can snatch the pebble from my hand etc.

CP32 and CJ28 (CP32 was 3200 yen, CJ28 2800 yen) are the second (CP32) and later Japanese Blue Note CD issues from the 1980s. The CP32 series was released in 1985 if I remember correctly, the CJ28 series in 1988. As far as I know both series generally have Ron McMaster's masterings. Thanks for the warning!

Just when I thought we'd all put this behind us.... We well know what the TOCJ are - can anyone tell me what the CJ28 and CP32 are??
