  1. Thanks for posting. I mentioned these in another thread but i didn't make a list. Some are rare or rareabouts and all are cheap. To which we the people say 'yay'.
  2. One thing I think, is that so many jazz artists of the late 50s and 60s play within what they understand can be done for the sake of making commercial recordings. One reason the much derided Euro-boots of the LP era are so prized.
  3. Even though in theory I've cut it down to the bone, even though in theory I only order essential box sets that I know I WILL make time for, even though I supposedly listen to every single CD (if not box) before buying more... They just tumble over each other. And this from someone who uses streaming and has sworn off 'collecting'. Help. PS I'm certain I don't buy even 10% of what you guys buy. I avoid buying wherever possible. But the trickle of mail order, the forgotten pre-order, the in-store impulse purchase. And I just have no TIME...
  4. Thanks! Thought so. They are cheap and I'm ordering both.
  5. Um...I find I can't safely answer that question...
  6. I'm a bit sad about how my sad dog story thread has gone .
  7. The Wilens are Barney and More from Barney at Club St Germain.
  8. Cool. Do you see anything new/rare in the upcoming SICP list? The Wilens for example? I can't be sure.
  9. http://www.hmv.co.jp/en/search/music/advanced_1/barcodecatnum_sicp/category_1/formattype_1/genre_VARIOUS_800/pagesize_3/sort_datedesc/ Link to hmv japan.
  10. I notice that blu-spec issues of Fillmore and of the mono box are due in Japan. For the committed. Should mention there are quite a few SICP jazz reissues coming up at a good price. Some less frequently seen titles. Apologies if I don't work through those - maybe someone will start a thread in due course.
  11. Odyssey of Isaka has been released as an SHM-CD and it sounds quite nice. My one concession so far to TYCJ!
  12. Good story.
  13. This thread is for people who like dogs! Only!
  14. Should be a thread for this, right? Family Chooses Homelessness Over Abandoning Pit Bull http://abcnews.go.com/m/blogEntry?id=22579320&ref=http%3A%2F%2Ft.co%2F6D2bRbM3TV
  15. Happy Birthday! Don't get too fatigued by harsh remasterings!
  16. Thanks for bringing this one back up! Anyone else as impatient with the Dexter Gordon BNs as I am?
  17. I'll say more on Karabits when get round to it.
  18. Well, there are some complete alternates which are interesting to hear and the sound is fine, so....
  19. It is actually quite irritating, this set, but....
  20. Late last night a set of complete Haydn Quartets went in my amazon basket for 30 UKP. Now may be the time, I thought. This morning, 73 UKP. Now may not be the time, I thought.
  21. I've been holding off on boxes for reasons of time, but the DG Strauss Complete Operas proved irresistible after I auditioned it on spotters. It maybe made a difference that I have little Strauss on CD. If you want librettos do not apply! This is a magnificent set. Not quite a 'bargain' by the standard of this thread but most definitely a bargain by any other standard.
