  1. Stopped by the consignment store and grabbed this on CD: Plus a few odd LPs: Dave Brubeck Quartet/Jay & Kai at Newport (Columbia) Joe Newman + Wess, Foster et al - The Count's Men (Jazztone) Manny Albam Orchestra + The First Modern Piano Quartet - A Gallery of Gershwin (Coral) The Perasuasive Trombone of Urbie Green and his Orchestra (Command) Not sure what to expect out of those last two. The Piano Quartet consists of Eddie Costa, Johnny Costa, Dick Marx and Hank Jones. Not bad for a 10 minute speed-scan of their disorganized and unreliable stacks.
  2. Yep, nothing here. I'm contacting them.
  3. A question: Is there anything NOT on these discs that IS on the Bill Evans Riverside box? Also, am I forgetting anything? Tenderly New Jazz Conceptions Everybody Digs Bill Evans On Green Dolphin Street Portrait In Jazz Explorations The Complete Live at the Village Vanguard Solo Sessions Vols. 1 & 2 How My Heart Sings! Moonbeams Know What I Mean? Interplay Loose Blues Live at Shelley's Manne Hole Time Remembered I'd love to get the box one day, but I'm 3/4 of the way there with the individual issues, so I'll continue on with those.
  4. You mean they'll get halfway through the same old titles before discontinuing the series.
  5. Jackie McLean - Hipnosis 2xLP, 6.95 on ebay. Just when I felt like I was getting closer to having all of Jackie's Blue Notes, I did a rescan of his discography and realized I still have quite a ways to go. Oh well.
  6. I got mine from this Canadian seller, who seems to keep it in stock: http://cgi.ebay.com/CHARLIE-HADEN-MONTREAL-TAPES-6CD_W0QQitemZ110500351219QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_CDs?hash=item19ba558cf3#ht_2870wt_1144
  7. I hope so, I'm still waiting for the Coltrane Impulse AlbumsVol. 4 set.
  8. Oh, and Jazzland!
  9. I was wondering how they would manage to shill the Contemporary and Fantasy titles. This is ridiculous.
  10. Yes, by 'Jazz Workshop' I meant Right Now. Still need to grab the Great Concert and Monterrey discs.
  11. Mingus Sextet - "Meditations" I'd heard the versions from Cornell and the Jazz Workshop, but the piece never made much of an impression on me until I stumbled on this video earlier in the week (I've been on a big Mingus kick). I returned to the Cornell verison with a renewed appreciation for this truly stunning composition. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOd4TlP7MP8
  12. I've mentioned this elsewhere, but Amazon is now offering On-Demand CD-Rs of many OOP BS/SN titles for $9.90 or less.
  13. Howdy to all. My google alert for "esp-disk" brought me here. Have you received that Holy Ghost box yet? I am the only one doing shipping, so I had TONS of orders to pack up. I didn't send out the box sets until end of last week / early this week. Cheers! Not yet, but maybe today...I'll have to see when I get off work. I can tell you've got a lot on your plate, so I appreciate the hard work you've been doing. It's no worry, I'm sure the box will turn up within the next couple days. Thanks for checking in!
  14. Still waiting on the Holy Ghost box I bought over 2 weeks ago ...
  15. Is this your first listen to From the Soul? If so, enjoy! Such a great session. Order from reckless.com plus:
  16. It's a small gripe, but I wish I could combine shipping on their Amazon items. A $1.99 item becoming a $4.98 item still makes it a fine deal, but knowing it all ships from the same location makes bulk ordering feel like a rip off-- on Amazon's part, not Newbury's.
  17. Yeah-- I should have said "Previously released MT music on Verve".
  18. Just a heads up, EmArcy Canada released a box set containing all the music from the 1989 Montreal Tapes. Amazon.ca has some copies; I managed to find one on Ebay for $38 US. A great way to own this music all in one place without having to pay used prices for the individual Verve US discs on Amazon or Ebay. I'm excited to hear this stuff. What line-ups!
  19. Just curious JAW, are you collecting every Mosaic set?
  20. Yeah, I misread-- for some reason I thought that was a Buy-It-Now. Nevermind.
  21. There is a T/K/M Mosaic on Ebay for $125 with free shipping.
  22. Well we're talking OOP Mosaic here, "reason" is relative. The Buy-it-Now auctions are stupidly steep, I agree, but the regular auctions are what they are. $80 sounds pretty reasonable to me for a Shank/Cooper or the like.
  23. What's the story with Miles' cover, I've never seen that before.
