  1. My Brookmeyer is #5059/5000 Any idea what that's about?
  2. Just got Blues With A Touch of Elegance in the mail, it's very nice. Definitely a set I'll consider ordering if it's still around in a few years.
  3. Just got back from the bookstore where they had even more RVG/Keepnews titles. It seems like now the question is what is in print? Even Sonny and Miles reissues from the last couple years were represented in the liquidation stack.
  4. All good options. FYI, though, there's also a ghastly looking tin-box Miles set sold at Wal-Mart for 16.88 which contains Relaxin', Workin' and Cookin' in original packaging. It's a steal.
  5. Just placed this order. Excited as hell, but not looking forward to the credit card bill!
  6. Personally, I consider many GAS (or "pop") singers to be part of the jazz umbrella: similar repertoire, same era-- most importantly I get the same feeling from it. Beyond that, I feel no need to categorize or nitpick.
  7. Ah! Touche. But it is true that there's a lot of fluff on Impulse! as well.
  8. Importance is relative. I've seen the covers of plenty of Impulse!s I had no clue existed that caught my attention. How Mosaic could deal with this is questionable, but a McCoy Tyner set seems an especially good idea to me.
  9. Just got a shipping notice on my Brookmeyer set. Looking forward to it. And I think I might just hit up Mosaic for the Amy, Green, Reece, and Mobley sets.
  10. Still no word on my Brookmeyer set, either. But the available copy has disappeared from the site along with another thing I ordered, so that seems to indicate that I will be getting it. We'll see ...
  11. Honestly, I'm all for this, assuming the price is reasonable.
  12. I guess. These have been showing up all over the place here. I picked up some Rollins, Hawkins, Miles, Monk, and Nat Adderly RVG/Keepnews at a bookstore that doesn't even sell CDs.
  13. I still think an Archie Shepp Impulse! box would be tops. How many of those records made it to CD in the first place, and how many are OOP now? Fire Music certainly is which is an absolute crime.
  14. I'm interested.
  15. Here's another cool site with a very complete set of Blue Note covers (among many others): http://gokudo.co.jp/Record/BlueNote1/index.htm
  16. http://www.scpr.org/news/2009/09/08/dolphy/ Cool article. It suggests that the work will eventually be recorded.
  17. There are a good number or Brookmeyer sets on ebay for decent prices. One retailer claims they have 8 available that ship at $50.22. A few others hover around the $60 mark.
  18. Grabbed the Brookmeyer from Reckless Records online for 36.99. Hopefully no one grabbed/grabs it from the store before my order processed. There is still a Carmell Jones sitting there for 39.99.
  19. Not anymore he doesn't. I was selling stuff I can do without for a while or that I have in other forms and the Pepper fell into this category, I would have bought it again before it went OOP, but since it has just disappeared of the face of the planet at the flick of a switch(maybe literally), I think I will hold on to it. This really does suck big things, but as they say shit happens. Whoops. Well, glad you didn't end up selling it!
  20. Remember also that Cliff is selling the Pepper over in the marketplace.
  21. And disappeared out of my cart!
  22. Knowing little to nothing about CD manufacturing, it seems that it's done by pressing copies with a master-- what was destroyed here. Sounds like they don't have any other source options, which is why Mosaic just coming up with files of the music wouldn't quite do, unless they were literally burning them themselves in the office.
  23. Agreed in full. I just wish I got here sooner (started listening to jazz less than two years ago).
  24. I don't think there was any accident. Sounds like they changed plants and "rearranged" their priorities, apparently unbeknownst to Mosaic.
  25. Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Interesting timing (not being conspiritorial or any such thing).
