If someone is considering a concert and/or recording, would you have some points of contact for publishing? Thanks.

I thought the 3/10/60 tracks were bonus tracks on Out of the Blue? We need to tell him about Huss Charles
-
I assume this is streaming-only?
-
Just don't call him Huss or Russ LOL.
-
So should it be pronounced the French way.
-
Who got paid for the gig?
-
His last date was in the late 70s with Howard McGhee and Benny Bailey. Home Run is the record.

Thanks! Getting lead sheets is possible but a lot harder than in the 90s when I went wild. Blame it on COVID and hiring freezes. Do you know who is the publisher for Cootie's music?

Steven, The inventory at the back of the book mentions that the source for some of the titles is the Library of Congress. Were you able to consult actual lead sheets at the Library, or did you consult copyright.gov?

Oliver, Do they mention what year are her last documented gigs? I am really curious why Mingus was talking about her as late as 1965-1966.
-
I assume the Miles CD is a bootleg? He is on a few tracks on the Newport box, correct?
-
Joseph Orange lives in the DC area. We talk via Facebook a lot. I have only met him in person twice. Very nice guy.
-
A workaround? Had not thought of that.

Tom Evered brought her the money. Is this a clip from the Mingus film? I remember him talking about Jutta and how he preferred her playing to Toshiko's, but I don't remember him saying he wanted to work with her. Curiously, the Mingus film is 1966. Hadn't Jutta stopped playing by then? I am not sure when her last documented gigs were. No later than 1962 or so, IIRC.

Can't watch in the US for legal reasons.

I saw him in Paris in the 80s but only got to speak to him briefly. Half the concert was Monk compositions, and he also played When Johnny Comes Marching Home. My recollection is that he played baritone sax on several pieces.

Tell us more about this cassette. Did you digitize it?

So this is a studio session for Atlantic, not a live record? Could it have been lost in the Atlantic Fire?

This thread reminded me that I was contacted by soneone who had a recording of Don Cherry at Cornell in 1991 and he was wondering how to get in touch with the estate. I need to reply to him. Is this a recording that is widely circulated? It is not listed on the website above, but it must be a Multi Kulti gig.

Luciano, Have you contacted Ben Young?

Even by Facebook's incredibly low standards, the nonsense spewing regarding this debacle has been shocking. And why ask Harper about it? Any journalist who has done a drop of research will know that Harper's departure was not under the best of terms. Asking him to chime in is just sensationalism. But the media these days is a big part of our problem. Not doing their job.

The amount of misinformation on Facebook regarding this matter is mind-boggling. Among other things, Billy Harper was asked about it by some interviewer and said he would never play there. Some concluded that it was this comment that resulted in the Cookers being canceled. Nonsense - Harper left the band two years ago. He was just saying that he himself would not play there. Also, some dude wanted to go down a racial rabbit hole. Unfriended that dude quickly.
