  1. Big Al calls it! The Cowboys looked good for awhile this season, but something sure changed. Nothing changed. Their offensive line has always been atrocious, and their defense hasn't been much better, giving up all those points in games where they won. Remember all those games when Dallas won when they should've lost? Well, they played another one of those games today, except it bit 'em in the ass this time. When the blame is passed around, Jessica Simpson's name better not be mentioned AT ALL.
  2. FWIW, these two albums fit perfectly onto one CD for maximum listening pleasure!
  3. Two thumbs up from me as well, as I got my discs in great shape as well! :tup
  4. Probably won't be able to listen live but I'll definitely be hittin' the Archive as soon as it's up!
  5. As I've said all along, get ready for a first-round exit for the Cows this weekend.
  6. Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely go with rapidshare.com then.
  7. And if you don't like that KID AND THE BRUTE disc, I will buy it from you!
  8. Thanks to fent99 for letting me pinch-hit for him. I had a blast with my last BFT, and I got the impression that a lot of y'all did as well. It'll only be one disc, with two themes that'll be easy to spot, with an overall emphasis on fun and whimsy just like the last disc. I'm gonna try and go the yousendit route, but if anyone wants a CD, just send me your mailing address via PM. 9. Yes. I don't want to discourage or get rid of the "Listening" thread, for the reasons listed above by other posters. But at the same time, what made me think of this was the fact that I was listening to Lee Morgan's CITY LIGHTS the other morning and wanted to start a thread. Now, I don't want to put it in "Recommendations" because I'm not doing that; I just want to talk about it. And I figure there are others who want to do the same thing, that is just talk about a particular album without dedicating a week, month, or even a day to it. Just a moment.
  10. Holy cow, I've had that dream too! Seriously!!! Different record store, but same dream!
  11. Well, I had a chance to listen to this set thanks to the Arlington Public Library, which somehow managed to score TWO copies of this set. It was okay. If nothing else, it made me appreciate the finished product much more than I ever gave it credit for. The same thing happened with the JACK JOHNSON set. The single disc issues of these albums work just fine for me.
  12. Anyone can start a thread about a particular album. This as opposed to the ongoing "What Are You Listening To" thread. Just start a thread about an album you feel like talking about. For future search sake, just list the artist and the album title in the thread. Just a thought, since the "Album of the Month" idea didn't take off.
  13. By all means, RUN do not walk back there and get THE KID AND THE BRUTE. You will regret it if you miss it. Some outstanding Jacquet combo swing there, with the addition of Ben Webster on a couple of standout tracks.
  14. I'm also very soured on Ebay this morning, as paypal just ripped me off for $43 plus all their listing and selling fees by issuing a bogus refund to an unethical buyer. Had no real response from them to the evidence I submitted, just auto responses from a machine and canned responses from the paypal customer service androids. So I'm very sympathetic to your plight. Anyone doing Ebay fulltime has my unreserved sympathy. Wow. That's unfortunate, but good to know. I was about to put a bunch of (cheap) LPs up on eBay. Think I'll just take 'em to Forever Young instead.
  15. Yes, please post a list. You can PM the list to me as well, if you wish. I'd love to see what you have!
  16. Sonny Stitt & The Top Brass (Atlantic 1395, mono)
  17. Oh, I don't know: I was in there New Year's Day and picked up Tony Bennett's CLOUD 7 on the original red-label Columbia for $6. It sounds beautiful. Like Jim said, it's very hit-or-miss with HPB. Sometimes it's a goldmine, other times it's a chore raking thru all the Herb Alpert/Chuck Magione/David Sanborn/Spyro Gyra/Boots Randolph/Al Hirt records to find out there's nothing there. Just depends on what day you go, I guess.
  18. Yeah, what kh1958 & JSngry said, word for word. Gas prices keep me from going to CD Source & the big HPB as much as I used to. Forever Young has a more-than-decent used CD selection, considering their focus is more on vinyl than anything else.
  19. I used to have a man card, but it was permanently revoked when I admitted to liking Tori Amos. Have I mentioned how much I enjoy ABBA? Mamma Mia, baby!
  20. Yes, that is correct; forgot about that one!
  21. IIRC, the only albums from the box available as VMEs are Getz/Gilberto and Jazz Samba. The rest are either old masterings about as old as those on the box, or OOP altogether. The box is definitely the best way to go, if you can find it.
  22. I will always leave the radio on when Phil Collins "Against All Odds" plays, and I am unashamed to admit to occasionally getting choked up remembering the girl for whom I was head-over-heels-in-love at the time the song came out. Man card? What man card? I lost that years ago, if I ever had one.
  23. You're saying the concert would've been great if you'd gotten laid? Well....... yeah......
