  1. HA!!!! That magazine title is hilarious!
  2. Word... Oh I agree; but I figure if you can't beat 'em, beat 'em over the head with something GOOD!!!
  3. Alright, I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but since I'm being inundated with holiday music & commercials everywhere I turn, may as well add some spice to it. Also wanted to bump this up for members who've come on board since last Christmas. Listening to it right now!
  4. Believe it or not, I actually feel sad once some of these stations go back to playing regular music.
  5. I'm excited since, now that I have a record player again, I'm gonna be able to listen to mom's old Christmas LPs again, the ones I grew up with. These were LPs put out by Columbia Special Products that mom got for free at Goodyear (maybe not free, but cheap nonetheless). Some of the songs that were on those LPs I've bought on CD now (a bunch of Andy Williams songs, f'rinstance); but it just seems to sound nicer when placed in the context of the old LPs, complete with pops, scratches, & surface noise. Some of the highlights for me: Andy Williams "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year," "Let it Snow," "Do You Hear What I Hear," and "Sleigh Ride" Johnny Mathis "Silver Bells" and "Marshmallow World" Percy Faith "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," "Little Drummer Boy," and "Christmas Is" Johnny Smith "Moonlight in Vermont" (actually credited to Stan Getz on the LP) Yank Lawson/Bob Haggart "The Christmas Song" The New Christy Minstrels "Here We Come a-Caroling," "Silent Night" (one of the few songs that moves me to tears), and "We Need a Little Christmas" Jerry Vale "Home for the Holidays" Steve Lawrence "Let Me Be the First to Wish You Merry Christmas" Cleveland Orchestra, George Szell conductor "Patapan" And that's just off the top of my head!
  6. Can't believe Texas lost to KSU. Can't believe Eric isn't jumping for joy over this. Hell, I can't believe aggie87 isn't jumping for joy over this!
  7. I went to the Dallas store last night. Pickin's are still pretty good despite the fact that I only found three things from my wishlist (Miles Prestige Quintet box, Whistle Stop RVG, Let Me Tell You About It RVG). But it did make me long for the days when Tower had everything on my wishlist, none of which is particularly obscure (some OJCs, the Byrd Transition sessions). Still, there are a few items I left on the racks in hopes that they'll still be there when the 50% clearance comes around.
  8. Someone should pick up the Jack Wilson. It is sweet!
  9. Happy birthday, Rolf!!! I tried to arrange for Nancy Pelosi to jump out of a cake for you, but nobody's returned my calls and there are all of these black cars with tinted windows on my street now, so.......
  10. Have they at least removed the Youtube logo? There are some buyer comments on the Steve Hoffman forum: http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showthre...0712&page=7 Yup, that was the "elsewhere" I was referring to.
  11. What? I'll one up Aggie -- I saw them in '78, Cobo Hall, Detroit. All four original members. My first concert... 12 years old. Regarding the DVD... Jim said it best: Gene $immon$ never $top$ dreaming up new way$ to make $$$, that'$ for $ure! No $hit! Besides, I've read elsewhere the audio/video quality ain't too hot to begin with. Mainly because the sources used were fan videos.
  12. Yeah, I saw that article today. I'd love it if Zito comes to Texas; I'm sure Boras would love to get his hands on Hicks's wallet again. He won't be cheap, that's for sure. Ah well; maybe Boras will convince Hicks into taking both Zito and the Japanese kid, leaving no more money to sign Bonds. One can dream.....
  13. Skid?
  14. Big Al may take solace in the fact that Hicks wants to make a splash, has lots of money, and has thrown it around foolishly before. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if they are the winners, either. Solace? Hell, it frightens me to death that Hicks may be opening his wallet to Scott Boras again. I don't care how good this kid is; no pitcher has ever survived the Rangers "coaching" staff without some serious regression in fundamentals. And on top of all that, they are actually looking into signing Barry Bonds. Looks like my prediction may come true. If that happens, I will actively root AGAINST the Rangers for dropping all pretensions to integrity that they've been spouting since hiring their new manager. Hicks just may edge out Jerry Jones as the most hated team owner in the Metroplex, although Cuban is coming pretty damn close with his treatment of Don Nelson. But that probably belongs in the NBA thread.
  15. Happy birthday, fellow chatist!
  16. Which came first: the K-Fed divorce thread or this one?
  17. D'you suppose she's leaving him because he put her cameo on the record after she specifically told him not to?
  18. Oh yes! It's more fun than just watching them! Are you kidding? I play them AND I watch them spin around! All part of the experience!
  19. There's the understatement of the millenium.
  20. The cat has a nice singing voice when he's not sneering or rebel-yelling. I'd be very interested to hear this.
  21. Much less the attachment of actually owning something legitimately.
