Maybe so. But this editorial only adds credence to just how hurtful his actions were. I mean, Skilling is just plain evil, a man without a conscience or anything resembling a moral compass. But Lay, if this article is any indication, not only had something resembling a conscience, but should have also had the perspective of the people from whom he came (i.e. the poor & middle class), the folks from whom he was bilking gazillions of dollars. He should've known what he was doing was wrong, and the fact that he let it slide negates any goodwill resulting from his past or his so-called "Christian" present.
