Dammit, I have GOT to stop saying nice things about my team, lest they become jinxed!
-
Can things be looking up for the Rangers? Kip Wells pitches wonderfully in his first appearance as a Ranger, the guys have won four in a row: two from the surging Twins, and two from division rivals Angels; they've had wonderfully consistent offense for a change; Tex is coming back in a monster way! Lookin' good for a change!

You da man, Sangrey. Always! (He's the one who hipped me to all the goodies at this particular Half Price Books, doncha know!)
-
I also have Laws' IN THE BEGINNING, which is one of my favorite albums, period. Anyway, the local Half-Price Books has both of 'em, so I'm very likely gonna pick 'em up. (assuming someone doesn't read this and go scoop them up themselves!)

Guess this explains why they're OOP right now.....

How close were you to the loud guy in the audience whose screaming almost drowns out the band?

Hubert Laws AFRO-CLASSIC Paul Desmond BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER Normally, I'm a huge CTI fan, so I'm guessing these fit right in along with that. I have Desmond's FROM THE HOT AFTERNOON and love that album; is BRIDGE more of the same? Thanks!

Happy Birthday, my friend! Here's hoping this year will be much better! You definitely are one of the good guys.

"See, the thing about Andy, man, is that he could take a paint brush and go 'whoosh' with it, but deep down south, and I mean at a gutbucket level, he truly meant a big 'wayoosh,' the greens and blues--and I mean the deep creole gutbucket blues--rolling loudly against a thunderous backdrop of swing that just went 'waaaaaaaayoosh wup wup worrrwowlllllrrrrowl oosh bip bip oosh bip bip...... ooooosh.' That's how Andy had the blues."

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Rangers just traded away two minor league pitchers for Matt Stairs from the Royals (38 years old, career .261 hitter) and Kip Wells (just off the DL, 1-1, but a nice ERA nonetheless). Ah well, there's always next year. And the year after that. And the year after that. And......

Abba GOLD and Def Leppard YEAH!
-
Although I will concede that Lee is hitting well, having two multi-hit games since he got here.
-
Let's see, since the trade, the Rangers have lost two straight to the worst team in baseball. What the Rangers need right now, even more than starting pitching, is clutch hitting. The penultimate moment happened in the 7th tonight: they had the bases loaded with two outs and Brad Wilkerson coming up. I still can't believe Bell thought he had to change pitchers for Wilkerson: hell, even I could've gotten him out. Sure enough, first-pitch swinging grounds out to end the inning. At this point, I would gladly trade Kevin Millwood (tonight's loser and this year's pitching bust) and Brad Wilkerson (don't get me started) to get a decent pitcher and/or a clutch hitter. Seems like it was this time last year that the Rangers went on their 1-12 swoon that barrelled them outta contention. Deja vu all over again.....

Well, I took my wife and our mothers to see Mamma Mia last Saturday, and that music is STILL going through my head. Not complaining mind you.....
-
How do you find out about this shit before I do? I am fucking speechless. This is their idea of a big playoff trade? Un-fucking-believable!!!
-
Kenny G, no contest. The others I can easily ignore, but G's "music" makes me literally wanna strangle him.

Kinda looks like The Big Dig in Boston. It's Circles 12 AND 14 (they're saving 13 for something really torturous)

BTW Al, in the graphic, the second blue area from the top?... the river Styx. Hell yeah!!!! Didja see Skid's manning the entrance..... :g
-
This article is almost eight years old! I wonder if they've had to build yet another level or sub-level to accomodate all the Total Bastards that have secured entrance since then!

I Wish The NFL Season Would Hurry Up And Begin
Big Al replied to Soulstation1's topic in Miscellaneous - Non-Political
As a former Cowboys fan, I hope T.O. leads them to an 0-16 record. It would be poetic justice for a team that bulldozed a lotta people outta their homes of 50+ years to make way for Jerry Jones' monument to idolatry, and then signed THE most selfish player in recent history. -
Ehhhhh, after 30 years of this stuff, you just become numb to it.......

I'm not giving up yet. Seems to me you've got two things working in your favor: I'm pretty sure you can pound on Jaret Wright's pitches One of the problems I see the Yanks having is the inability to go for the jugular and finish off a team with a sweep. They haven't won more than 5 in a row, and without specifically looking up the stats, that has been the pattern, and its kept them from ripping off the kind of long streak they've needed to make a move. The only team they manage to sweep is the White Sox who are in free fall, and we all know Texas has more sac than the defending champions, don't we? Well, with all due respect Dan, as much as you wanna rag on the White Sox, don't forget that the Red Sox didn't repeat, either. Do we rag on them for that?

If you'll do something for us tonite, perhaps I'll entertain your notion. I was at last night's game. It was like a frickin' little league game in the 4th inning: Eaton had a no-hitter going, but he'd given up a run on four straight walks! Three innings of brilliant no-hitter stuff destroyed by the inability to close out the 4th inning. Ah well, first-time jitters & all that, I guess, just coming off injury rehab. Hopefully, he gets better next time out. As for our offense, well, the less said the better. Heard an interesting stat last night: the Rangers have not won a series at home against the Yankees in TEN YEARS!!!! And we've got Rheinecker going to the mound tonight. I smell another sweep. Apologies in advance, Dan.

Red Sox fans irrational? Naaahhhh.......
