Are these part of the LPR series? I saw a couple of them at the store the other day, and don't recall the LPR series being mentioned anywhere on the jewel case. For that matter, on the Verve website, each of the albums is not listed as an LPR, so....

What time does it start?

Funny thing... I was just thinking about this date the other day when I saw it in the Tower online used CD sale. Wondering why I didn't buy it again. Again because I owned it once, but couldn't warm up to it. Don't get me wrong: it's a fantastic lineup, with some of my favorite players on board. But, for whatever reason, it did nothing for me.

I know it’s been a long time since the answers were posted, but a couple of comments upon re-listening to this disc: 1. I can’t BELIEVE I nailed track 6! 2. Now that I’ve been listening to Cream a lot lately since their reunion at Albert Hall, I can see them doing track 11! Heck, this even SOUNDS like Cream anyway! Gotta check out these discs!

I thought the drive was just down and needed to be replaced. Then I put a regular data CD into it and it worked just fine; installed the program I needed and everything. Now I've just put in a music CD, and not only does it not play, but when I try to double-click the drive letter, it doesn't show anything in the drive! Is it a driver issue? (BTW, I'm running a Dell running XP Pro. I know, I know.....)

What's your local/regional jazz/NPR station?
Big Al replied to ghost of miles's topic in Jazz Radio & Podcasts
There is one NPR affiliate: KERA 90.1 Then there are two college stations: KNTU 88.1, which mainly plays jazz, and KTCU 88.7, which has an afternoon jazz show. Would love to be able to hear the show on the radio down here! -
HOW DO YOU MANAGE TO KEEP IT TOGETHER???

Hey, watch it buddy!!! (you just described me to a tee) DOB:3/3/70 With age comes wisdom, my friend, and since I'm a full day older than you, I can honestly say that I've forgotten the question and am too lazy to go back to the first page and ... oh, gotta run, my CD just finished burning and I wanna see if it turned out okay! DOB: 3/2/70 (you just described me to a tee) Hey John, I think he's onto something here! -
Listening to the 5.1 mix of FEAR OF MUSIC. Eh, nothing to write home about, if my dinky little computer DVD player is any indication. Even Jerry Harrison admitted in the liner noted that there wasn't much he could do to the master tapes to make much of a 5.1 mix. Still, a lot clearer than any other version I've heard. Money well spent (or rather, a gift card well spent!)

Hey, my wife is fully eight years older than me! But to look at her, you'd never know she was the older of the two of us. Must be that Michigan upbringing of hers!

That JB's Anthology is all sortsa slick! There is some unbelievable greeeeaze contained in those grooves! "Hey Bobby, why do you like soul food?" "Because it makes me... haaaaa-ppeee!" PASS THE PEAS, Y'ALL!!!!

I jumped the gun because I was still frothing at the next RVG batch!!! I hear ya there!!!

Received FEAR OF MUSIC and REMAIN IN LIGHT today, listening to the DVD side of RIL. Wow! This sounds phenomenal on my dinky little DVD player on my computer; I can only imagine what this must sound like on a real surround-sound system! The stereo separation is very crisp, every instrument is audible. "The Overload" is on right now (my favorite from that album) and the way the music seamlessly bounces back and forth between each speaker makes this already-ominous tune even more spooky! A real treat for these ears, letmetellyou!!!

....and if I only had the money to help you get rid of 'em!!!

Discussion of what the SH forum, especially as it pertains to this particular thread (I mean, we are talking about a reissue where sound quality is a major factor in someone’s decision to buy these discs), is hardly hijacking, my friend! On the contrary, I’m actually quite grateful that the SH forum came up in this thread; I don’t often visit that forum (which is a good thing: I could easily spend three days there and not notice a moment gone by!), but I also value the opinions spoken over there. More salt for the meat, y’know?

Andrew Hill with Charles Tolliver at Birdland

I'm serious! Who do we contact to make this suggestion? Does anyone have Cuscuna's e-mail address? Hell, I'll fire off some e-mails to him to try and get them to record this! -
I'd like to know who the two liars are who answered the first question the way they did!

Too many of us forget what it was like to be two-, three-, and four years old. My son watched Barney (note the tense) when he was a toddler, and it didn’t brain damage him for life. Sure, it taught him such antiquated values as loving your neighbor and being kind to others, but he’s no different than any other 4th-grade boy on the planet, as he and his buddies sing “Joy to the world, Barney’s dead!” at the top of their lungs. When I remind them that, had they heard a bunch of older kids singing that song when THEY were little kids, they’da pooped their pants and cried for their mommies, they all laughed and said, “Yeah right!” Short memories. I daresay that any adult who thinks they would’ve hated Barney when they were that age is either in deep denial, a liar, or just completely out of touch with their “inner child” (for lack of a better term). Anyway, how can people gripe about Barney when Elmo is SO much more irritating???

Oh if only Blue Note would tape this and release it! -
Favorite Colin Moulding bass lines to play along with: Senses Working Overtime Jason and the Argonauts Yacht Dance All of a Sudden (It's Too Late) Generals and Majors Love at First Sight No Language in Our Lungs Towers of London Burning with Optimism's Flame Travels in Nihilon Life Begins at the Hop Ten Feet Tall Roads Girdle the Globe Millions That is the Way Battery Brides (the live version) Not that I can play them well, but I sure enjoy trying! Heck, Colin Moulding was the reason I ripped the frets outta my bass! ************ Another thing: I've got an EP of 'The Mayor of Simpleton," and on the flip side are the following home demos: Ella Guru Living in a Haunted Heart The Good Things Does anyone know if these were ever released on CD? It's a pity that these weren't ever finished up and properly released, as they're some of the band's finest songs. "Haunted Heart" lives up to its title, and "Good Things" holds Beatlesque charms despite it's raw state.

Are you talking about the CD side or the DVD side? I always figured the CD side of a DualDisc would play on any CD player; is that not correct?

It's a cool song! With a most EXCELLENT bass line! And you're right about Partridge as a lyricist. He comes up with the most fascinating lines: I would have made this instrumental but the words got in the way and my all-time favorite: People will always be willing to wipe their feet on anything with 'Welcome' written on it. (Quick: can you name THAT song without looking at your colletion or doing an online search?)
