  1. Love this show! Makes me wanna go to NYC that much more!
  2. Just about anything JOS did with Art Blakey is tops in my book, especially "The Sermon" and the February 1957 sessions.
  3. But..... that's damn near EVERY Red Sox fan, not just Dan. And even among themselves, they argue vociferously over who hates the Red Sox more! The Rangers are in the wild-card running. Woo hoo. Hey, I'm happy for them because they're doing infinitely better than anyone (myself included) thought they would do this year; but they still got a ways to go before they become the powerhouse they have the potential to be. Nevertheless, win or lose, they're my team and I'll always root for 'em!
  4. Ah. Thanks!
  5. Weird Al is (and has been for a while now) on the creepy side of Weird, and this is further evidence. I didn't find this one bit funny.
  6. Try and figure this one out, because I can't: as payment for a recent CD sale to another board member, he bought me a gift certificate to Oldies.com. I used the entire certificate plus four bucks & some change, which was billed to my CC. Two days afterwards, I received a notification that my order had shipped. There was no indication that anything did NOT ship or was backordered; however, my CC had not been charged that four bucks, either. This was last Monday (August 3). I still haven't received the order but noticed this strange thing: my credit card had been credited SIX bucks and some change by Oldies.com! Will keep y'all posted, but that's the strangest thing I've seen in a while....
  7. First dumb question of the day (which is only three minutes old here in Texas, hence the use of the word "First"): What does OT stand for?
  8. Loved it! That was hilarious, especially this line: "This goes on for a half-hour, which in jazz years is one song." Again,
  9. Any chance you'll be adding BLOWIN' IN FROM CHICAGO by Clifford Jordan & John Gilmore?
  10. Not to derail, but this is the truth. I was ecstatic when the Arlington Public Library system got MULTIPLE copies of the Miles Davis ON THE CORNER box that I didn't care what they did to the boxes! So yeah, don't cancel that order. Heck, I oughta order a few copies and donate them to the Arlington Library!
  11. Actually, I am, mainly because they DIDN'T do that stupid trade for Halliday, and now especially since they've dumped Padilla. However, as a NYY friend pointed out to me tonight, IF the Rangers win the WC, guess who they face in the first round? Just once I'd like for the Rangers to make the playoffs and NOT face the Yankees!
  12. Is the Stones disc the UK or the US line-up? (The UK cover is the same cover as the US December's Children (and Everyone's), whereas the US cover is a color shot of the band)
  13. PM sent on the above! EDITED to add the McLean. NOW I'm sending a PM!
  14. You got THAT right! Man, all this time, I thought I got a good deal when I got it at Borders for $19!
  15. AWWWWW!!! Whatta cutie! Congratulations, Cary!
  16. Well, looks like the wait for the annual Rangers free-fall is finally over, after having dropped three in a row to the A's.... ah well, it was fun while it lasted.
  17. And why the hell does he think he's old?
  18. Habby belated birthday, Lon!
  19. Happy birthday, Shawn! For your birthday, I'll buy another one of your Conns!
  20. You will like this one as much as the Tjader CDs, Al - it includes the only session with Mongo Santamaria, Willie Bobo, and Armando Peraza in one band! Yes, I meant to PM you about this. I listened to it on Rhapsody and what a very cool surprise! It really does sound like the best album Cal Tjader never made!
  21. List updated. Just need to hear from Joe and Hot Ptah and we're good to go until next April. Mike, I hope you don't mind my moving you up to February; I have a reason for wanting March.
  22. Do whatever you have to do to get the Sly & The Family Stone Woodstock set. Now THAT is a ferocious performance! Helluva party record, right up there with the Greatest Hits album. For someone like me who wasn't there (or even born yet), it's hard to believe they were rockin' this hard at 3:00 in the morning!!! Yes, getting Stand without the extras that are previously available is a bit of a rip, but the Woodstock disc makes this worth the price of admission alone!
