  2. Unless I've overlooked them, I don't think people do auctions here on the board. It would seem a bit of an awkward thing. A better alternative, imo, would be to guage the latest selling prices on ebay, and then price your item(s) below (to what extent is up to you) what you could get on ebay. Here's a site where you can easily see auction results from the recent past (also good for finding cover art): http://www.popsike.com/index.html

Thanks for clearing that up, Bill.

I know people can change their haircut style, and can switch to contact lenses, and there's the father time factor, of course, but... the dark hair is probably the thing that really throws me. When I look at the video (Louis Stewart group) that I uploaded, and compare it to the video with Bird's alto, I would never have connected those dots (assuming they're the same guy)...?

Yes, it's all very confusing. I never saw Ronnie's colleague, Pete King, but heard his fruity cockney voice on the radio. I've seen the other one, who calls himself the full PETER King, several times in his career from the 1960s to the present and he has now developed into one hell of an altoist - Britain's secret, you might say, now we no longer have a Tubby Hayes or Victor Feldman to offer. Here's a curiosity: Peter King playing Bird's alto! My link Thanks for clarifying. Except that Peter did occasionally go by "Pete," at least in the states. Unless there is a third guy out there. Unless I'm confused, I thought there was a third guy out there (another alto player). I had seen that video of Peter King playing Bird's alto before, and I just assumed it was a different person from the Peter King I was somewhat familiar with. Just to clarify, here is a photo of Peter King the alto player, already mentioned here (the guy playing Bird's alto in the above video): The Peter King I was familiar with had lighter (blond) hair which he wore differently (combed forward over the upper forehead)... ...and wore glasses in the only video I had seen of him (which was a performance with Louis Stewart, which is one of the uploaded videos on my Youtube page: (the camera isn't on King until about 4 1/2 minutes in, btw). I also found a link to an undated video which shows that same Peter King (referred to as "Pete" here) in an earlier performance where he isn't wearing glasses: http://www.pogledaj.name/pete-king-1-of-3/video/cudIy4qRJ3Y I'm seeing a facial resemblance between the two, but the hair and the glasses have me confused...
  6. I think it would be fair to say that referring to McDonald's (or any other fast food burger) here is going quite a bit off-topic. Of course steaks are great too, but a different experience (apples 'n oranges, as they say).
  7. In terms of flavor, you are absolutely right. I thought I understood that pretty well, but it became even more clear when my wife recently started following Bobby Flay's advice (don't go too lean, and don't add any frigging bread crumbs). In terms of health, well... oh, screw health. How DARE you! I'm sorry- this means WAR.
  8. Well, I read the article (and the comments) twice, and I have a hard time taking it very seriously. I haven't been to every state, but I've been to many, and having lived in California my entire life (and traveling all over the state), I know one thing... you can't generalize about a state this large and diverse (in geography, climate, population, etc etc). I think this sort of study would be better applied to cities rather than states. Lon, maybe I'll see you in Hawaii when we get to our "next" lives.
  9. I haven't figured out what's causing it, but at least once or twice per visit, the button (arrow) on the right side of each topic on the active content page takes me to the first post in that thread instead of the last post. Not a big deal, just odd. I'm using Safari, fwiw.
  10. It's interesting that this site hasn't gotten more attention. I did a quick search, and found that it was mentioned here in 2005 (a reference to its function as a source for vinyl). There was another recent thread also: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=53186&st=0&p=925374 Anyway, nice site. I only wish it was more comprehensive regarding the various labels it includes.
  11. As long as there's a good beer to go with it, I'm not too picky. I usually like to keep things pretty simple (although I do enjoy a good avocado burger). Grilled medium-well, hold the pickles, and other than that I'll be pretty happy with whatever you put in front of me. How often? I dunno... all I know is that I want one right now. I think the best burgers I've had in recent years were at Rosie's Cafe (Tahoe City) and R.G. Burgers (Monterrey).
  12. That's now "view new content" at the top right-hand corner. Isn't that the counterpart to "View new posts since your last visit"? "Today's active topics" rather displays any topic active within the last 24 hours, you may have viewed it or not. yes, it seems one can only click to "today's active topics" from the main forums page and not at the bottom of a thread as it used to be.
  13. Hmm... not on my Mac. I use the "control" key for that.

  15. No problem, Lon, and thanks for sending the heads up (my first "personal conversation", or "PC", which has replaced the old "PM"). That amp looks great. I hope that finished wood cabs will become more popular in general. I like a nice tweed, and there are shades of tolex that look fine, but sometimes when I walk into a shop it's black, black, black as far as the eye can see. What material was used for your amp's faceplate? It's a nice contrasting look.

  17. Nice! Hey, it's probably a good time to ask if that can be added to our beloved emoticons (I wouldn't ask here, though, as I don't think everybody has time for threads like this )
  18. Hmm... I've noticed that whenever I click on the "View New Content" link, I'm taken to a full page of the latest active topics, AND, at the top of the page: New content: There are 35198 new entries... 1408 pages ...the entire history of the board, as it turns out. I guess this is the result of choosing "show me all topics that I haven't read", as opposed to choosing "show me all topics since my last visit", under board settings. An omnipresent "Active Topics" link would be preferable, I think, to a "New Content" link, but it doesn't really matter that much to me. Everything's there, so I can browse backward like I always have.
  19. See post #145 in the other thread. I think it's very similar to the old "Today's Active Topics" on the old board. Just like there, you can use a pull down menu (marked as "Active in the last...") to get older topics.
  20. Larry, read posts #142-145 in the "Welcome to the new forum" thread.
