  1. there new search is definitely not as user friendly as the old. try searching all cd's first. then use the pull down to select jazz and hit enter. you should get all the blakey cd's in jazz.
  2. if we're talking, roll down the windows, step on the gas, great on the radio singles, here's 3: missionary man - eurythmics venus - bananarama just got lucky - the jo boxers
  3. dan - i agree - "we didn't start the fire" is probably as bad, but i never had to work a shift with someone who played it and enjoyed it. also, "we built this city" was the single of the album, meaning one of the better songs (if that's even possible).
  4. i feel vindicated. "we built this city" has been my most hated song since the first time i heard it. i worked at a record store when the that album came out, and one guy that i worked with insisted on playing it all the time. just a horrible record.
  5. that 3 cd RCA set is quite a find. if it's the one i'm thinking of, it's been out of print for some time, and the music/sound quality is exceptional. try to find the blue notes if you can. there was a best, plust 1 or 2 individual titles released in the u.s. the holy grail of course is the complete blue note mosaic. probably my favorite of all the mosaics.
  6. my wife and i had one of our best nights out ever at this place - Pesce Pasta Trattoria. The address is 262 Bleecker St. It's crowded, nosiy, and intimate all at the same time. enjoy.
  7. anytime you make a transaction with someone on ebay, you can get their contact information - name and phone number - from ebay. the easiest way to find it is to go to help and ask for contact information. it has helped me out a few times.
  8. thanks for all the support. i'm waiting on the plumber now. the county just did a major road improvement on our road (new curbs, sidewalks, storm sewers, gas main). i'm hoping they're at fault, so i can try to get something back. but the financial value of an autographed ramones lp and the sentimental value are 2 very different things. i guess i've lived a pretty sheltered life - i'm pretty bummed right now - out of context with the situation. i couldn't imagine losing my entire house or a loved one.
  9. bad news on the lp front. i've only kept 2 crates of records once i switched to cd's. since the wife and i moved into our house, iv'e had them stored in the basement. well, our sewer line has clogged and i know have 4 inches of water in my basement (we've lived here 10 years and have never had a problem). luckily 1 crate was on top of the other, but the bottom crate is ruined. i haven't gone through them all (there is still 4" of water in the basement), but it appears that i've lost ascension - john coltrane - 1st and 2nd editions infinity - john coltrane cosmic music - john coltrane live at the marble arch - graham parker live sparks - graham parker - autographed too tough to die - ramones - autographed by all 4 (joey r.i.p.) some rare sun ra records and many others. needless to say, i am heartbroken.
  10. i have a real problem with ebay's feedback system. i have 1630 feedbacks (1629 positive and 1 negative). although i have left over 2000 feedbacks. the 1 negative was retalitory. this guy sent me a cd that was advertised as mint, but the cd's had scratches, and the booklet was mangled. i emailed him 3 times. over 3 days. when i got no response, i left negative feedback. he left me a negative within 30 minutes. ebay could correct this very easily. buyers should only be able to comment on the shipping and the condition of the item. sellers should only be able to comment on the payment.
  11. i have that 3 lp box. once the cd is issued, if anyone wants to make me an offer - feel free.
  12. i just saw this set used, and i did a search hoping to come up with anything on wadada leo smith, and what do you know - a topic on this very set. how is this set? is it worht picking up?
  13. david, i am very sorry for your loss.
  14. i thought i recognized that guy, but i couldn't put a name to him. thanks for pointing him out.
  15. i missed franki vali, but i loved the david lee roth cameo. i loved how carmella got into tony's head about his friends only being friends because he is the boss. they cracked up at his lame joke after ignoring dlr's lame joke. tony sure is insecure for being the boss of a crime family.
  16. i saw some definite parallels between the 2 famalies and tony's strive for control. he had a spoiled child in each family not wanting to play by the new rules. i think moving in with tony will be bad for a.j. staying up late watching tv, eating wings and passing gas is great when you're 15. this may push him to tony's lifestyle even quicker. i do not think we've seen the last of feech; just like babo (sp.) in seinfeld.
  17. i'd let that the seller know that you plan to retract your bid unless you get "grandfathered" into the old shipping charge. if the seller does not agree go ahead and retract your bid. there are no negative ramifications to you.
  18. i've seen all 18 episodes. one of the few shows that has left me speechless and impatiently waiting for the next episode. the episoded where the tall geek kisses the cheerleader in the closet is classic. also, i never thought a styx song would bring me near tears. this is one dvd box that i will buy. nbc be damned.
  19. i have a real problem with how the ncaa calculates graduation rates. they only look at incoming freshan and only look at the end of 6 years. i know the university of cincinnati has taken alot of shit for a 0 graduation rate a couple of years ago, but that particular year they only had 1 freshman and he transferred to a different school, so their graduation rate was 0. junior college transfers do not count even if they graduate on time. if a kid transfers to another school, they count against the school he transferred from and they do not count for the school that he transfers to. if a kid leaves early to make millions in the nba - he counts against a school's graduation rates. if a kid comes back to school after the 6 years is up - he does not count.
  20. i'm really enjoying the soul sisters release. it's lightweight, but it has grant green in some fun settings. this one would have completely passed me by if it was not part of the series.
  21. my wife is a xavier alum. she was in tears at the end of the game. since the bearcats are gone - go muskies!
  22. what number is your new cd? you might try contacting the ice newsletter. their cd watchdog column tracks down problems like this. i bet rhino does not even know it's a problem.
  23. i just got an email stating that my replacement copy is in the mail. ghost - did your original cd have this problem? have yoiu contacted rhino to see if they even know about this problem? keep us posted. btw - the live television cd is almost sold out. get this one while you have a chance.
  24. i remember seeing a quote from michael cuscuna that the defranco/clarke was the worst selling mosaic of all time. this blows me away. this is one of my favorite sets.
  25. i saw them on the "wig" "candle apple grey" and "warehouse" tours. the warehouse show is still one of the 2 or 3 best shows i have ever seen. christmas - a rellay good band on big time records opened up (where is their 1st 2 records on cd - a great idea for rhino handmade). then it was on to the huskers. they did not play the whole thing in order, but they did play large chunks of it. one chunked inlcuded ""charity . . .," "ice cold ice," you're a soilder," "too much spice," and "she floated away." that is probably the pinnacle of my concert going experiences. "she floated away" was absolutely awesome. i had not listened to that album since i got married (1994), but i put it on last fall when my boss died (and my wife was out for the evening). i turned it up to 10 and drank a few beers. it was the only record that made sense.
