  1. Today: The latter in the CD version which includes more Blackhawk recordings.
  2. The album with Kenny Burrell contained herein is top notch!
  3. Nothing will ever kill your sense of humor, Allen!
  4. George Duke played Wurlitzer, and it sounded great! Te real Ron Carter acoustic bass sound can be heard on this Johnny Griffin Riverside LP, never heard it recorded better: A 1985 pure acoustic recording is this: Pickups made it easier, of course, but I never heard a more convincing sound as a well played, well tuned bass fiddle.
  5. Today was Vince Guaraldi day:
  6. Your list is not complete. I will publish a complete discography of the trios with Ray Crawford until the end of the year and link it here. The trio with Vernel Fournier is a totally different affair, and much of the content in the Mosaic box was and is hard to find.
  7. Found this in a box of cheap singles in second hand shop. This one, too: This one was in my brother's collection - I was so dumb to return it to him, as he certainly never again listened to it. I love this Tjader EP cover:
  8. Mike Wolff, whom I first heard in Cal Tjader's band. This trio album, available from his site, has convinced me: Recorded on one day after they had finished an album with a larger band a day early. He asked his bassist and drummer to stay. https://www.michaelwolff.com/album/jazz-jazz-jazz/
  9. Once again: He had very good players in his band. High energy salsa type album. Those who like this kind of thing will not be disappointed, the solos are excellent.
  10. I didn't mean Herbie's Blue Notes but some of the sideman dates he did for the label.
  11. This weekend's evening bottle:
