  1. R.I.P. Without his participation, many bands and albums would have sounded very different from what they were. Will spin this tomorrow in memoriam:
  2. I bet he kicked himself more than once for doing so.
  3. He was a regular with a local jazz promoter, too. I was there every year. Saw him perform more often than any other jazz musician, locals included.
  4. Walton and Harris were a great team, and when you add Carter and Higgins ........ This one was among my first hundred jazz LPs, purely by accident as I pulled it from a cutout bin out of pure curiosity, but it made me love all those guys. The Tender Storm is rather underrated compared to Mean Greens or The In Sound, but it belongs to the same series. Some more tracks with Walton are on these two:
  5. Just put this on top of the pile for breakfast listening tomorrow. Any Teddy Charles session is worth hearing. - That's what this thread is good for - reminding one of discs that have been gathering dust for too long.
  6. LA ZERBETTA Arneis 2019 Langhe Arneis Denominazione di Origine Controllata
  7. Excellent music. Why did I sleep so long on these Prestige sessions?
  8. Slowly making my way through the new Lee Morgan box set - one disc per day.
  9. Same here. Too lazy to check discographies etc. Now this is extremely annoying!
  10. My thoughts exactly. That abundance of comments and interviews is just right.
  11. Triple Yes! To both Lewis and Kay, and to Percy Heath.
  12. Wayne Enstice just informed me about Dottie Dodgion's passing: " It saddens me to tell you that Dottie passed away last Friday. She would have turned 92 this Thursday, 9/23. " Anybody who purchased and read the memoir is kindly asked to post a review on amazon or anywhere else and link it here. R.I.P. - thanks for the music and your contribution to the encouragement of women in jazz.
  13. This morning:
  14. .... and she looks great in that photo!
  15. I followed it with the companion album, they were such a great team. Nelson's capacities as a sax player are underestimated, IMHO. Now playing: Doug Raney, Something's Up
  16. This afternoon:
  17. Last evening, In Memoriam: Right now:
