He was a regular with a local jazz promoter, too. I was there every year. Saw him perform more often than any other jazz musician, locals included.

Walton and Harris were a great team, and when you add Carter and Higgins ........ This one was among my first hundred jazz LPs, purely by accident as I pulled it from a cutout bin out of pure curiosity, but it made me love all those guys. The Tender Storm is rather underrated compared to Mean Greens or The In Sound, but it belongs to the same series. Some more tracks with Walton are on these two:

Just put this on top of the pile for breakfast listening tomorrow. Any Teddy Charles session is worth hearing. - That's what this thread is good for - reminding one of discs that have been gathering dust for too long.
