  1. Is there a better choice for a Sunday soundtrack than some Pres? Right now, I'm listening to disc two. Let me see how far I get.
  2. My bet for thge final: England - Italy
  3. "Music of Another Present Era" was like the soundtrack to dreams or rather fantasies I had. It lost that quality over the years, but I like the remembrance.
  4. Yesterday and today - got four Sonorama CDs at a sellout:
  5. The band I played with at the time was heavily influenced and fascinated by this band. I will get me a copy.
  6. Ah! That makes sense. I thought of Dewey Redman for a moment. Bunnett is an excellent musician, she just doesn't move me.
  7. The drummer is much too busy for my taste on this version. Too bad. This beautiful melody and mood needs more restraint. It is none of the versions I know or have. Cannot recognize any of the players, as I do not listen to much of this type of jazz anymore.
  8. Recognized the first tune during the first bar playing! Stanley Cowell's "Maimoun". Is that his daughter singing?
  9. Forgot to grab my CDs for car listenimng as I left home. Duh .....
  10. Soul Jazz Records will reissue Tori, expected date is July 23! https://soundsoftheuniverse.com/product/tori
  11. ... and now they beat the Swedes with a last minute goal.
  12. That's a literal translation into German!
  13. Dawili Gonga - a clear Zappa influence on George Duke.
  14. One must not forget that Kriegel's technique was self taught, often using only three left hand fingers, as he had no formal training.
  15. Just found one that made me laugh: K.B. Groovington - which is Kenny Burrell on a Jack McDuff album.
  16. Today in the car: Kenny Burrell !!!
  17. THis afternoon: Mandatory for any serious Pres fan. Saturday evening I read the Lester Young chapter from Geoff Dyer's "A Book About Jazz" to a befriended couple and played them my favourite Pres tracks - they were delighted.
  18. I received the two CDs on Friday, and although I knew the music as I had a download, I am delighted. The sound is pristine, and I like the music. Burrell's feeling is beyond any criticism, and the arrangements are very good, carry the message. Blues and feeling a-plenty. Only bummer is that both albums are under 40 minutes and there is no hope that any of the unissued material has survived the many mishaps in the Universal vaults. Any serious Burrell fan should seize the opportunity.
  19. Just received a shipping note.
