  1. Did you contact IAJRC and ask if they still have a copy? https://www.iajrc.org The link from their facebook page leads elsewhere: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.iajrc.org%2F%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR3K8tm1fXZ1eZbS2GQvV7xhkRkd-NZdeQLMDhUsSsr_djP2dJq276OxbLI&h=AT1OyG6gRo7V6BzF1IdXg1l48hu3IXl23xZZ1ACgBSqrqUz6DmJEkiqDjJJoKELfn9uNwAL6IFKusfxP-x70MUNnifW69LEg6Tg2kX2OpBaJU8v0iYBGfJO9vjpqcGOYwdkyQfcWbzub4i1W0qmBeg

  7. I found this CD in the Tom Lord disco but cannot find it anywhere else. Does some kind board member happen to own it? 8. Thanks! You're right abpout Upton. My memory failed me after hearing that song in my teens ... The composer credits to the three other Weeden tunes should be right as well. I went for the ones in the BRIAN database, but when there are several tunes with the same name, and not all of them are entered .... but that's part of the research. Thanks again - this clears on of the three last questions I had about Melvin Rhyne recordings. another was answered by John Altenburgh after I wrote him an e-mail regarding the Mark Ladley trio sessions with Rhyne. The last one wil ne put in a new thread in this forum.

  10. Thanks for the kind words. I just wanted to give Don some back for the many hours of pleasure he gave me with his music.
  11. When looking at the Lord Disco a few days ago I noticed that some of my research found its way there. Nice to see it bearing fruit elsewhere. The link to the online version is in the opening post.

Pharoah Speak(Bill Ellington, Juan Amalbert [= Emanuel K. Rahim]) Up Front LP 12" UPF-150 — Spotlight On Pharoah Sanders With The Latin Jazz Quintet Phoenix LP 12" PHX-309 — The Latin Jazz Quintet Featuring Pharoah Sanders All titles on: Trip LP 12" TLP-8008 — Oh! Pharoah Speak The above is a collective personnel listing taken from the first issue of these tracks on the Trip label. Amalbert, Jones, Patterson, Ellington, and Derrick are listed as members of the Latin Jazz Quintet, all others as guests. Other than this personnel listing the back cover or labels do not show composer credits nor track timings - the composer credits are from http://members.aol.com/ishorst/love/discsand.html except for the Sierra Madre theme and Ray Bryant's tune. Place and date of this session are unknown. Some sources claim it was Pharoah Sanders' first recording session, which would date it in the second half of 1962, before his first session for ESP (January 4, 1963) and after the Latin Jazz Quintet's last for Prestige (April 20, 1962). Its first release on LP was ca. 1971. The two tracks on the 45rpm single, released as "Juan Amalbert And His Band probably are from this session. Track f titled Brok'tit Off In Harlem on the 45 rpm issue.

  17. I may go for this as I am interested in the genesis of Take Five. The released take to me sounds like there is an obvious edit before the drum solo.
