  1. But WhyNot could/should have a proper tape of that album when they once did a reissue.
  2. This CD shows that Wagenseil was a much better and more interesting composer and important developper of classical stylistics. Much recommended.
  3. It was originally on IPS (Institute of Percussive Studies, Cyrille's and Milford Graves' label) - maybe that's the reason?
  4. Thanks for sharing this. I only know some of his music, but it was all warm and grounded. R.I.P.
  5. That's what I remember him for: R.I.P.
  6. The information on the CD back cover is all there is known. No other information can be found in the Tom Lord Discography or the Verve Discography. No files in the label`s archive.
  7. You're right - I misread some recording dates.
  8. Hawes' last session in 1977 for Columbia produced only two tracks that remain unissued. The last session issued were the John Collins tracks on this album: That said, the track with Hawes on The Golden Number was recorded a few months after the album pictured above. This here was Clifford Jordan's last recording:
  9. "Naked City Theme" and "Extensions" were combined on a CD from the Spanish Jazzbeat label. OOP and hard to find. Discogs doesn't list it.
  10. Beethoven day, all on period instruments (no covers to be found, rare CDs): Pianoforte & Horn Sonata op.17 - Claude Maury & Guy Penson (Ricercar) Pianoforte & Cello Sonatas op.5 - James Weaver & Kenneth Slowik (Smithsonian) String Quartets op.18 - Smithsonian String Quartet (Smithsonian)
  11. I love that album, too. What a loss ....... R.I.P.
  12. Well, most of today's pianists have studied at least some of Chopin's music, and since it is based on his improvisations it is no wonder that it is a favourite of many. Clare Fischer said in an interview on Jobim that he finds many chord changes in bossa nova pieces are much like Chopin.
  13. An unforgettable voice. R.I.P.
  14. Yesterday afternoon after work: Right now:
  15. This was the first time I heard him, and it convinced me. R.I.P.
  16. All the Ray Brown Trio albums are very good, as are those with guests, and the Superbass CDs.
