  1. I must have played that LP a thousand times back then when it was new. Sold it several years ago to gain shelf space, as I had the CD. But now that I researched the discography of Tjader and was so much involved, I somehow regret I sold some of the LPs.
  2. The samples really are appetizing! A few months ago I considered getting some double CD compilations of the band. Glad I waited.
  3. https://www.nomadmusic.fr/en/album/un-hiver-a-majorque She plays on the exact type of pianino that was sent to Chopin while staying in Mallorca with George Sand, although it arrived only days before they left. The stay there was unpleasant for various reasons, but still he finished the Préludes heard on this recording.
  4. This afternoon, discs 2 & 3:
  5. Same here. But I know many musicians over here who rave about these three. I think their musical approach is easier to comprehend than the black roots for German guys.
  6. Jazz Messengers in Barcelona just offered a number of oop box sets they acquired from a private collection: https://www.jazzmessengers.com/en/mosaicboxsets-1713?mc_cid=dd2d2338a0&mc_eid=494fec5cfc
  7. ..... on to disc 4. I have neglected this music.
  8. Now disc 3 This disc begins with the Chant Royal, one of the most beautiful melodies Machaut has written.
  9. Fascinating. But the way it looks there seems to be no chance of expanding the collection. Potentially sounding treasure with look at it only.
  10. I have never seen so many tributes, obituaries etc. on facebook - he really was universally loved and respected.
  11. This one hits me hard. Many years ago he played in Frankfurt with his Band. I went there with a longtime friend who brought Brazilian percussionist Gilson de Assis who stayed with him at the time. After the gig they talked the whole Band into going to a local Club where another Brazlian, pianist Izio Gross, led the house trio. His bassist and drummer of retirement age looked so frail you were afraid they would collapse any minute. Hermeto's bassist and drummer conquered the stage, and we were four percussionists cooking behind some wild four hand piano on some old time Brazilian standards. Afterwards we talked a bit, and Hermeto just said "Thanks for loving music." One of the loveliest human beings I ever met. An amazing creative genius. R.I.P and many thanks for the inspiration.
