  1. I don't expect any help in locating the diplaced items, but I find it somewhat interesting, and it takes some steam off my mind as it bugs me. Right now I just can't seem to find these three: The 2003 CD reissue - doesn't bug me that much, as I recently bought the new deluxe edittion. I sorted out the latter two for a birthday party of a friend who asked for favourite "songs" to be played at the party, but obviously never put them back into place.

    Paul Whiteman

So this is a good way to get an impression of Whiteman? I only have the Capitol sides:
  3. Great, detailed research, as always!

    Brew Moore

Video of the three tracks recorded for French TV in 1961:
  5. You can always ask me to edit/revise the list in the opening post. As a moderator I can do that.
  6. Just read about it on Facebook. R.I.P.
  7. The first six tracks were an Eddie Harris LP on VeeJay: I wanted to have that for a long time, and this compilation was the easiest way to find it on CD. Schifrin was the most outfageous of all bossa nova pianists! Highly recommended. Jordi Pujol's liner notes are a perfect outline of Schifrin's career.
  8. Good stuff! Kenny Clarke really drives the band here.
  9. This video was posted here. It taught me how great an organist Scott was, and how much drive she had. https://youtu.be/88UI6EcBWPY?si=DRoW19HKgBWpdJNt
  10. I must admit that I am completely unfamiliar with most on the lisr!
  11. I didn't mean to put down BSN - they do some serious work with love and engagement. It's just that it's of limited use if you want to compile a serious session-based discography like I do with the BRIAN software.

    Donny Hathaway

I didn't know about this. Thanks for mentioning. I must get a copy.
  13. I wonder who they are. They definitely have some money.
  14. He observed the younger people under 35 he sees at his and neighbouring stands on the vinyl events show no interest in jazz before 1950 Maybe it is different in the US. It is a niche audience, for sure.
  15. I love that one! One of the few cases where I am glad I got me a download long ago, as copies of the Japanese CD reissue are very expensive.
  16. Ekkehart Fleischhammer of Sonorama Records told me the market for vintage jazz reissues seems to die out with the corresponding generation of collectors. He also deals with second hand vinyl and says noone buys this stuff anymore. There are tons of non-licensed fake reissues sold on the record fairs he visits, it isn't fun anymore. His least selling vault issue, btw. is the LP/CD with Brew Moore live and radio recordings. But the music is very good, Brew always swings more than the rest of the band!
  17. This is the 8 tracks from the debut or Black Lion releases plus five bonus tracks hitherto unreleased.
  18. ..... with Thad Jones and Eddie Harris!
  19. I always found that Joe played Invitation too fast for the melody to really shine. Many play it for the changes, but Kaper's melodies deserve serious attention. My favourites are Cal Tjader and Milt Jackson.
  20. Correct. I want master numbers, dates and locations, unissued tracks and all. Like in the Ruppli books. I know it was soll by some Dutch society which no länger exists. Or so it seems. I want to doa George Shearing discography. There are contradictions between info in the Tom Lord Discogrsphy and on recent reissues. Those so called discographies do not deserve to be called so. They are just album track listings.
