  1. The Charly Antolini drum feature CDs had a reputation as potential speaker killers in Hi-Fi circles. They were aimed at audiophile circles and lived up to that reputation. They feature a rather direct sound without much room ambiance. This one is good, too, if you are interested in German neo-bop: This one I would have to listen to before I say anything about the music:
  2. What's heard in the video clearly was beyond the comprehension capacities of any German rock fan or tv host of the time. No neat song structures - even The Flock or B,S & T had that.
  3. Never heard of it or watched it! 😦
  4. Dpn't forget that This show was hosted by Radio Bremen, in a town where the progressive pop culture had a home. It is significant that this town also became the home of the Archive für populäre Musik (which still exists). That station definitely had a more tolerant approach than others aiming at the mainstrream. And: what other pop music tv shows were there at the time? That this was not boradcast explains why I never saw it back then, as I watched these shows regularly and certainly would have remembered.
  5. Beat Club was the top adress at the time for jazz rock fusion tv broadcast appearances in Germany. Ginger Baker's Air Force, The Flock, Blood, Sweat & Tears with Larry Willis .... don"t know why I missed this one. Thanks for posting.
  6. This afternnon as soundtrack to a sunny balcony:
  7. Bourgogne Rouge Sapidus 2015 Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret - Pinot Noir
  8. It was a Milestone as it established him as the spiritual and energetical torchbearer in the Coltrane tradition. The majority of his last Blue Note sessions were still unissued at the time, so when he re-emerged with this power quartet, it was with a bang! If I were you, I would get me a copy.
  9. Turns out I still have Trident and Supertrios on LP - time to disturb the neighbours!
  10. The US double LP omitted several tracks due to playing timne limitations. There was a French double CD with all of the tracks: https://www.discogs.com/release/10189476-Various-I-Remember-Bebop-The-Complete-Recording-Sessions I think the recorded sound could be better. Musically, very good, but not as exciting as I expected it to be, but that my be just me.
  11. I have been a follower of this ensemble from the beginning. Their 40th anniversary concert a few years ago was a delight!
  12. I picked up this JSP box after you wrote about one of the sessions as a favourite sextet or septet recordings. Thanks again for the recommendation. 😊
  13. Received all five volumes of Reinhard Goebel's series Beethoven's World yesterday. The concept and his commentaries were one of the most sensible contributions to the Beethoven celebrations in 2020; gladly it had all been recorded before the pandemic restrictions. Indispensable to understand the Vienna music scene in Beethoven's era:

  15. They reissued a lot of recordings from small 1940's West Coast labels, and did it well.
