  1. I have that CD but would take the statue ... p.s. try to listen to Israel Crosby and Vernel Fournier for a change
  2. Thanks for the comments, Jim. Very interesting views that inspire me to expand my remarks in the reveal. Coming up on this month's last day, I promise. 😄
  3. Started listening to this new recording this morning - now my first recommendation. Really excellent and the perfect demonstration of what you can do with a Hass harpsichord with a 16" register.
  4. 👍
  5. Thanks for the recommendation. I am always looking for books like this.
  6. Yes of course! No time yet to listen to the rest?
  7. C'mon, this is not her sound!
  8. Sorry, both not on these tracks.
  9. Some hints? A tittle difficult, as they easily come close to identifying the tunes or musicians. But let me try: # 1 is from a Riverside LP that many here like very much - the tune was identified. I'm puzzled as I thought this version was a giveaway track. # 2 & 10 feature the same pianist. # 3 The trumpet, as I said, is not his main instrument, it isn't even a horn. It is a Prestige album this is taken from. # 4 This brass band also worked with Carla Bley and decided to do some more as a unit. # 5 & 8 & 12 are an All Stars band with varying personnel that recorded a string of albums for a British label between 1995 and 1999, it was named after a part of the label's name, which doesn't suggest jazz albums. # 5 & 12 feature the same tenor player # 6 is co-led by a very famous bass player with a strong affinity to Brazilian music # 7 the singer is from Venezuela and was included on one of my previous BFTs. # 9 was identified # 11 is impossible to guess unless you have the CD # 13 was released on a compilation on the same label that released the All Stars recordings of # 5 & 8 & 12 and is from one of the sessions of these All Stars. # 14 is connected to # 4 via its co-leader. I included a track of this band on one of my previous BFTs. So will this help? Anyway, I will post the reveal on Tuesday.
  10. Last week, last chance for educated guesses. Am l disappointed?
  11. It would be hipper if it included all the Argo LPs. There is, btw, a Fresh Sound box that has more. https://www.freshsoundrecords.com/dorothy-ashby-albums/5708-the-jazz-harpist-5-lps-on-3-cds.html
  12. Just love it. Right at the heart of the current state of the world.
  13. Tonight it will be the Larry Goldings Trio with Peter Bernstein and Bill Stewart at M8 in Mainz (Mayence) just over the tiver Rhine. This was scheduled for 2020 but cancelled when the pandemic started, The local guitarist who runs the Jazz Initiative there does a good job, but as they have no piano in there it is mostly guitarist bands he features,
  14. Perfect for those who want Eckstine the jazz singer. The 1992 CD reissue restores the music as Bobby Tucker wanted it. Highly recommended.
  15. I just pre-ordered a copy.
  16. I prefer bread made the old traditional way, but there are less and less craftsmen putting up with rising early in the morning to make dough and let it it sit for hours etc. Modern factory made bread is available everywhere. There is one left in a suburb but l would have to take a long bus ride there. There is one making excellent whole grain bread that l know from scratch as l lived round the corner when they started in the late 1970's. Without them my wife and myself would be desparate. They now have branches all over town.
  17. Getting good bread is really becoming harder every year.
