  1. They will be playing here on February 22 - l just bought the tickets!
  2. Pulled this from the shelf, inspired by this thread. It's all very nice, but somehow this does not grab my attention as e.g. the Bob Brookmeyer Select.
  3. I will wait until I give a hint - or maybe I won't 😛 Yep. Well, yes, and no.
  4. This is the only reissue including the Parrot 78's!
  5. Nice tribute reissue by Fresh Sound: https://www.freshsoundrecords.com/fats-sadi-albums/56105-sadi-s-vibes-a-retrospective-1953-1961.html
  6. Just checked her discography - except for some early sides with King Fleming. all her recordings are under her name. She is really great - excellent intonation, a very personal approach, and original ideas on the arrangements. Again, Fresh Sound did a good job at re-issuing her early sides: https://www.freshsoundrecords.com/lorez-alexandria-albums/46957-on-king-1957-1959-plus-her-1954-1956-blue-lake-chess-recordings-2-cd.html Most of her albums are oop, although several were reissued on CD. Another interesting looking disc is this one on Jasmine, compiling her Argo Lps, but it duplicates two that are on the Fresh Sound issue: https://jasmine-records.co.uk/gb/easy-listening/2832-lorez-alexandria-what-is-this-thing-called-love-4lps-on-2cds-1959-1961.html
  7. Do we need another thread "Album covers with musicians in pyjamas"?
  8. Turns out I have this in a differently titled issue: Will give it a spin tomorrow.
  9. The weekend bottle (we had a break as we had a light cold last weekend): CUVE 102 - BIO** 2021 – FR-BIO-01 Languedoc Appellation d’Origine Protégée This one is a nice surprise, as it ages really well and tastes a lot better than last year. Organically grown wine from Southern France from Carignan grapes for the most part, one of my favourites. I'm glad I bought a whole box of it.
  10. Looking forward to attending his graduation concert next tuesday in Frankfurt. He is excellent. https://haensslerprofil.de/shop/kammermusik-instrumental/beat-bach/
  11. That's my favourite Christy LP - she swings more here than on any other album.
  12. Soundwise, a disappointment. Harsh piano sound, all miked closely. No room ambience. Cannot believe David Baker engineered this. Typical quickshot 1979 sound. But they very good. Sam Jones with Kenny Barron and Keith Copeland. Two alternates on this CD.
  13. Without his releases I never would have heard some of the rare West Coast stuff - thanks, and R.I.P. He gave us those last Monk Trio recordings!
  14. Track 3 is from the late 1950's. None of the guys guessed, so far. I'm not a fan of Gato on his own records but like him immensely here.
  15. Well Dan, I know our tastes are different, so five out of fourteen isn't that bad. 😊
  16. Except for Gato, none of your guesses are correct, sorry. It all may be harder than l thought ...
  17. Tadah! First guess accomplished. There was much talk about Sam Jones on the forum in recent weeks, so l thought this would be first one.
