  1. Bayrd Musique has released an album of unissued recordings of Grappelli as a pianist. Samples on the webpage linked here: https://www.bayardmusique.com/album/1962
  2. R.I.P. He never got the recognition he deserved as a major baritone saxophonist, I think. Will spin this one tomorrow in memoriam - he's really great on this:
  3. I still have this one on the shelves:
  4. When I stepped over her name at discogs, I read the sad news that she has passed away on June 22, 2022 at the ripe old age of 100 years! R.I.P. - to me she belongs in the Hall of Fame of Jazz Photography alongside another European great we just lost, Giuseppe Pino. Many CDs issued in Gernay durin the last 15 years with live recordings from the 1960's used her photos, here's an example illustrating how close she was with the musicians:
  5. Back home after two weeks vacation ... SACD version Some exquisite ballad perfomances by Lucky here!
  6. Forgot to post the news here about the Tjader Discography: Cal Tjader: https://jazzdiscography.com/cal-tjader-discography/
  7. I too had one of those Japanese CD reissues and it sounded fine. If I hadn't sold it many years ago I would give it to you.
  8. I am relieved ...
  9. Glad to hear you are safe. Good luck with the mess .....
  10. He was a regular in German jazz magazines and on Joachim Berendt's calendar - great stuff. R.I.P.
  11. Oh, I played in bands, too ......
  12. I am a percussionist, which started my interest in Tjader's music and enabled me to analyze the rhythmic aspects, but except for a rehearsal percussion band with friends and former students of mine I am retired. The pandemic stopped my private teaching and work as a dance accompanist at the Frankfurt musical academy. Since I always had a part time day job I got along. It was time consuming, but it was worth it.
  13. Thanks all. As it is, I discovered a hitherto unknown sideman album from the 1970's. But I have to check against an album I have before I update. But that's the rule, as soon as it is out, it is out-dated. That's the advantage of online discographies.
  14. The Cal Tjader Discography is online!
  15. Ladies and gentlemen, at last the Cal Tjader Discograhy is online - a project I started about 15 years ago. Several issues of the Shearing tracks are still missing, as this takes a lot of time to research. https://jazzdiscography.com/cal-tjader-discography/
  16. If it exists, this new Monk Discography should list it! https://jazzdiscography.com/Artists/thelonious-monk/thelonious-monk-discography.php
  17. RIP
