  1. I was delighted to read that a group of local jazz guys, pianist Uwe Oberg's trio Lacy Pool, will dedicate a project to Hill's music.
  2. This weekend's evening bottle: DOMAINE DE L´ARJOLLE Capucine 2021 Côtes de Thongue Indication Géographique Protégée Last weekend, btw, it was this one: MUCCHIETTO Fiano 2021 Puglia Indicazione Geografica Protetta
  3. This evening, while reading Jane Getz' book:
  4. One of the most hilarious reads among all jazz biographies I read. The young pianist, idolizing jazz greats (the big dogs) comes to New York at age 17, finds an apartment one floor below Jerome Richardson, and plays with Pony Poiindexter, Charles Mingus, Herbie Mann, Stan Getz (no relation), Booker Ervin, and tells stories about many more, including Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Joe Chambers, Tony Williams, Carmell Jones .... This is even more outspoken than the books of Poindexter, Hampton Hawes, or Art Pepper. Larry Kart adds: Jane Getz was a very good player, too.
  5. This morning for coffee: in the late afternoon, for supper with my wife:
  6. The Koch/Schwann label recorded most of Reger's orchestral music back then, trying to establish him as a major cmposer of his generation, all good recordings. If you want a more recent recording of the piano concerto, I would recommend this one: Marcus Becker is a very interesting pianist, having made 12 CDs with Reger's complete solo piano music, and many other cornerstones of late 19th and early 20th century piano music. He is also a jazz pianist of some credibility, which makes his recording of the Antheil concertos all the more interesting. You can find him on facebook, too, or here: https://markusbecker-pianist.de https://www.facebook.com/100014480043422/videos/724045121998768/
  7. R.I.P. One of the reliable players that made so many studio recordings sound special.
  8. This afternoon: Without this relase I never woulkd have heard the first three albums here - they're good. Wiggins was a very good pianist that tends to ge5t overlooked among the many fine West Coast piano players.
  9. Basically, yes. What I do not like is that you do not get an author's credit and that anybody, no matter how incompetent they are, can change your entry. I never use Wikipedia information without checking against other sources. The level of musical entries in English Wiki is much higher than in German ones, which often are just heavily summarized translations of their English counterparts.
  10. This morning, inspired by watching a Jesse Stone episode last evening, where he played an LP with his favourite piano piece, op. 118/2
  11. https://rivermontrecords.com/products/2260?variant=39963518173245 The sound samples are really nice ....
  12. Has anyone here heard this one, for which Cinderella also wrote the arrangements? https://www.discogs.com/release/5337377-Tony-Argo-Jazz-Argosy-The-Jazz-Accordion-Of-Tony-Argo
  13. Great stuff. I love reading old reviews and interviews and blindfold tests.
  14. Great to have you back. Best wishes for recovery.
