  1. Who are the sidemen on this one?
  2. Great! Folks, donate for it.
  3. You should - but I, too donated and there is no trace of it. Normally it is shown the day after. There seems to be an issue with the donation updates. But I guess that Jim doesn't have time for such things, as the error notice on the homepage.
  4. Great choices! If I only would have had the time to listen further, I would have guessed the Earl Coleman, for sure, and I had suspected that it was a Gagaku music track. But I was on vacation with no listening opportunity, and when I returned home I had a crazy working schedule as one of my colleagues was diagnosed with cancer, and a sub wrecked one of our cars. So it goes. Thanks for taking so much effort.
  5. Best wishes to you, hope you're well.
  6. Could it be the donations are no longer automatically updated on the homepage? It is frozen at 730 although several members said they donated.
  7. The weekend bottle: MADIRAN Paradox 2012 Madiran Appellation d’Origine Protégée
  8. Will have to check the fourth track, You Belong To Me, tomorrow, had to leave for work, but my finding seem to coincide with Jan Evensmo's. http://www.jazzarcheology.com/paul-quinichette/
  9. Sleepy Time Gal - no piano solo on "part 2". Different endings, as if there was a misunderstanding between Quinichette and Drew on the latter, maybe because Lady Q played two more chorusses. Slightly different tempos. The take on the Xanadu LP is the same as part 1, to these ears.
  10. I just listened to the two takes (denoted as parts) on the Ocium CD and the shorter take (playing time is correct!) on the Xanadu LP, and to me they all sound ilke three different takes! Starts with differences in the intros to way the takes end. The longer ones have a repeated riff while the shorter has a Basie type ending. Quinicette starts and endsdhissolos with different phrases. I wonder shat the other tunes reveal. Birdland Jump - same finding. Three different takes.
  11. Really wonderful - everybody who thinks he/she is accustomed to this group of Suites should check this out.
  12. It's properly credited here - I knew this resource existed, but had no time to look after it this morning.
  13. Cannot find a pic of the 78 rpm issue.
  14. Found the brochure on Sittin' In With label - edited by the Blues Unlimited Magazine. It was inded Bob Shad's label, who started with Jazz on it but soon released more Blues and R & B because of the sales figures. He had the rights to the recordings, but definitely did not care about proper discographical details - but who did among those indie producers back then? On the Xanadu LP and Ocium CD reissues it is credited to Quinichette.
  15. I want to hear samples first ......
  16. These tracks originally were recorded for Dale or Sittin' In With. Maybe Bob Shad was involved. I have a disco on these in the basement.
  17. According to the Lord disco August 14, 1952 is correct.
  18. They are on this CD, too: https://www.discogs.com/release/7393520-Stan-Getz-Wardell-Gray-Paul-Quinichette-A-Look-At-Yesterday
