  1. He doesn't utter a single honk on the whole album! That is the side Johnny Hodges hired him for. Very nice album.
  2. Eddie Harris!
  3. I first encountered him on a Flying Dutchman LP by drummer Jimmy Gordon, where he played a very nice solo on a Stratocaster. That solo would have been the only reason to keep that rockish LP.
  4. I wish I had that LP. Always liked his playing when I heard him. R.I.P.
  5. I will order the CD version next month.
  6. Gary Bartz would have deserved a complete Milestone recordings box set just like Joe Henderson. That said, I wished I had it and the other albums.
  7. He probably googled that one board member was selling candles here a while ago.
  8. No idea. But for more details on this broadcast, go to https://attictoys.com/lucky-thompson-discography-1957-1974/#sess-year_1959 and scroll down to November 1959. Details on the video above are found in 1960.
  9. What puzzles me is that I cannot find this on the nagel heyer website .....
  10. Sad news indeed. His lively playing enriched so many groups.
  11. The Eddie Duran Fantasy LP was reissued only as LP in the OJC series.
  12. Sears really rocks on his own sides! I bought four compilations with minimal overlap over the years and really enjoy them. His one Prestige LP is totally different, played with a lot of feeling and elegance. An excellent musician. That said, I have all the Ellington Mosaic boxes, the big RCA box, the French 1950's LP box, and many single CDs - only a few other things I would buy if I find them at decent prices.
