  1. Umm..not quite my little Ingrid BergmanMeister
  2. Had an excellent time thanks! Nothing like sitting out in those 5,000 seat Chestnut tree-shaded beer gardens to beat the heat. Tell ya what, that Pathfinder Deluxe Garment Bag is an exceptional piece of luggage....you can comfortably stash close to an entire case of Rothaus Hefe-Weizen & Pils into her without busting a bottle!
  3. Tom, You'll want to head over to Sound Garden in the Fells Point area of Balt ........over on Thames Street. Less than 10 min from the stadium and adjacent to the inner harbor.
  4. Okay, thanks for the info folks...that "Western Mann" cd looks good to go.
  5. Could be....but my TOCJ copy says "The Lover".
  6. Yes, I had "All Night Long" on a couple of nights ago just to hear Watkins blazing trails. Funny thing though, during the transition from Byrd's solo to Hank's, sounds to me like Hank gets off to a clipped start..almost like he was distracted for a second while he put down a cigarette or something? A real shame that the song fades out just when Burrell seems to be on the verge of launching a major smoker...
  7. Hey watch yourself or I'll send you a wall-size reprint of the 'Push Push' cover for your new apt.
  8. I don't want to hear about your wishes....unless of course it's about good brew or a color copy of the "Transatlantic Meetings" booklet? I now have one. Drop us a line.
  9. That's a no-brainer..........Chuz Alfred's 'Jazz-Young Blood" w/Vinnie Burke & Kenny Clarke. Just kidding....nice LP though!
  10. Are there any fluteless tracks on either "Sultry Serenade" or "Great Ideas of Western Mann"?
  11. Okay, earlier today I posted a sentence mentioning: Turrentine's Z.T.'s Blues Why is it that the search function won't home in on this exact title....or even a variation of it like Turrentine's Blues?
  12. I'd like to see a set like this materialize as well. Must admit though, despite all of the "this lp is his crowning achievement" commentary, I find "To My Queen" to be the least interesting of the first four dates. "How Deep is the Ocean" is mighty tasty....but that 18 min. title track is about as interesting (imo) as viewing a VHS of the 'Complete History of Franco American SpaghettiOs'!!
  13. I'm boycotting all musicians who changed their names from Bernard McKinney to Kiane Zawadi.
  14. Yes, that hospital quarantine biz really bites. On 3 separate occasions during the 2000-01 time frame my wife had to go in for a couple of days with rock-bottom whites and running a high fever but thankfully never picked up anything that necessitated the sort of prolonged stay that you've mentioned. So far we've managed to dodge that bullet during this second and ongoing round of chemo treatments (she was clear in '02 but the shit came back). Best of luck...hang tough & buy lots of cds!
  15. That may be the case...but soon after I return from my '03 Munich beergarden tour, I'll leave Catesta in the dust with a series of lengthy commentaries including: practical travel tips for safely bringing 5-liter mini-kegs back on the plane, best beer hall from which to pilfer a stein (or two), best location to drain fresh monk-brewed beer.....and best location to sucker local wise-ass university students into political conversations and then crush them like bugs.
  16. Pick up the Hubbard JRVG....beats out the TOCJ.
  17. God hates people who don't upgrade.
  18. Yes sir ....we're lovin' that Blakey like a mackerel!
  19. I'd like to see the Farmer/Golson "Another Git Together": The Jazztet: Another Git TogetherMercury 60737 This Nearly Was Mine Domino [benny Golson] Another Git Together Space Station Along Came Betty [benny Golson] Reggie Art Farmer-tpt, flg Benny Golson-tsx Grachan Moncur III-tbn Harold Mabern, Jr.-p Herbie Lewis-b Roy McCurdy-d May 28, June 21, 1962 NYC
  20. I went with "The Flip" because after suffering with that horrible UA vinyl for so long I'm eager to see how the BN maestros can whip that tin mine of a session into shape.
  21. When I saw his "La Jolla, CA" home address printed on the thing, I knew that baby wouldn't bounce. After that, I had to laugh each time I saw him float a variation of the "I'm a poor college student stuck in Seattle routine" on the 'old' board.
  22. Yes Bertrand, thanks for setting me straight....I meant the "Marie Antoinette" alt. take. Edit time! -_-
  23. No joke. Believe me, at one point I thought about trying to get this planted in Vol. 25 of "Ripley's Believe it or Not!".
