  1. I've got about a dozen TD on vinyl & cd and tend to prefer the material that runs from the late-70's through about '86 or so. 'Underwater Sunlight' w/ the catchy 'Dolphin Dance' would be a good one to check out imo. 'Green Desert' (recorded early 70's) is another fine one.....or, if you want something 'live' -- try 'Pergamon' which was recorded in either '79 or '80 at the Palast Der Republik in East Berlin. For some boneheaded reason (oh yeah, I wanted some quick cash for jazz cds!), I sold my original cd copy of 'Green Desert' (w/the old cover art) to some guy over at the Hoffman forum a few years ago. Wish I hadn't done that.
  2. and there I was thinking that 'shitload' meant 'a lot of' It does. I have a shitload of Lee TOCJs and track 13 alone ('Untitled Boogaloo') on 'The Procrastinator' bugs the shit out of me because those horns ya hear during the first 40 secs reminds me of the horns that were in the Batman tv series intro back in the 60's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkXw3jPgpy0
  3. Should be out soon. Only one of the 4 lps I've got is the one (on Jasmine) with Ronnie Scott, so guess I'll pick 'er up.
  4. That's excellent.......just placed an order for a few packs plus a 6 mo. subscription for my daughter. Thanks for posting this!
  5. Picked up several copies of this. Heck, 55 cents! Perfect to hand off to folks who are just getting interested in jazz. Who here needs one? Ghost?? http://www.amazon.com/Sides-Blue-Jazz-Greats-Played/dp/B00114XRT0/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1271115006&sr=8-4
  6. ........so's the location of the Mothership. Somewhere just outside DC perhaps? Instead of hitting all the museums, maybe a few of the 20,000 school groups in town could fan out to search for it? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/04/11/AR2010041103996.html In Maryland, George Clinton, Parliament-Funkadelic and a missing Mothership By Chris Richards Washington Post Staff Writer Monday, April 12, 2010

  10. A whole lotta Julie London re-issues coming down the pike in June. I don't own a single cd of hers -- so if we're looking for small group (no strings...well, minimal strings anyway) sessions, which one(s) might I want to check out? 11. I could care less who Tiger Woods, or any other celebrity is boinking or whatever. But the idea that he is catching this shit because of his race takes a willful ignorance that I can't fathom. The idea that only successful black men face this amazes me. This is what celebrity is. If you don't want to deal with the chickenshit, pass on the fame. That about sums it up, Moose. Goodspeak, time to stop banging the racial drum. We've drifted into PersonalAttacksVille, so the next shot fired brings the
  12. ..as good as 'Green Chimneys' on Soul Mates?
  13. You're wrong. This is not a black or a white thing. Not unless character comes in colors. Trying to make the case that the public's reaction to Tiger Woods' escapades is racially based misses the mark completely. What really pisses people off is that they were hoodwinked by someone they thought was worthy of their trust, perhaps more so than any other figure in the history of professional sports. Tiger spent millions carefully crafting an image that we, as fans, completely bought into. So, yes, I think we would be having this conversation regardless of race. This is a simply a case of being let down by someone who we were absolutely, positively convinced we could trust. The reaction is more visceral because that trust has been violated in such an unseemly and self-indulgent manner. Yes, that pretty much sums it up. Work overtime in the image choreography booth....then try to make the media the scapegoat when you go off the rails. Cute. I wonder if his support team has people circulating in the crowd handing out $10 bills for a warm camera ready smile... and $20 for a 'spontaneous' burst of applause?
  14. Ronnie Mathews/Roland Alexander/Freddie Hubbard is also available for $1.99. Nice.
  15. ....and a heckuva lucky one, for sure! Factor in the three incredibly lucky ricochets he had -- two out of the trees and one more off of the spectator behind the green -- and he should have left the course +1 anyway. Worry not....Goodspeak FedEx'd Dan a box of Godiva after I told him I was seconds away from using his 1969 Gaylord card to scrape the mound of yellow pollen off my windshield. I hate that stuff! Poor Bill Evans 'Shelly's Manne-Hole' cd-r in the front seat is caked with it.
  16. That scene in 'A Perfect Getaway' where Milla Jovovich stumbles on that high pass gives me the heebie-jeebies big time.
  17. Birthdays in Maine are for fishing, so what's the plan for today? Some moldy chum w/a fly reel up on the St. John River in search of Trout and Steelhead? .... or use some fresh chum offshore to land a....
  18. I liked this bit from over at The Huffington Post: No question that the talented Shanahan was able to -- as we Wash Caps fans would say -- 'unleash the fury' with an older Elway who had been constricted in many ways. Is there anything to actually unleash with McNabb? Guess we'll find out. Um, yeah....pondered that for all of 1.2 seconds did ya?
  19. Isn't this one of those 'bad for business' so topics?
  20. Nicely put. I heard a track on the cable tv jazz station about a week ago.....decided to track down a copy of the cd ....then discovered that a sealed one's been sitting here for about 3+ yrs. How does that Almond Joy/Mounds song go again? 'Sometime's you feel like a...'
  21. Geez, that's terrible. I feel bad for you and know what you're going through as far as riding the emotional rollercoaster and all. Honest! Best of luck, Volkher! -Rolf
