Thanks Chaney! At this point, it's either going to be the Capresso or a Bosch unit. -
Coffee Makers - Recommendations?

Bill Evans Complete Riverside Recordings 12CD JPN
Son-of-a-Weizen replied to ispace's topic in Mosaic and other box sets...
Good point, definitely something to think about......although, FWIW, the SACDs seem to run $19-25 and the new Evans K2's will run $21 before shipping. Probably works out about the same. BTW, there's another Evans title ('Montreux') due out in Japan in December that's packaged in a 12x12 replica LP cover? I don't think I've ever seen a cd packaged that way....have you? Seems a bit awkward. Not sure I want to start filing away cds on the shelf with my lps. -
Bill Evans Complete Riverside Recordings 12CD JPN

True. To play it safe, I'd order it from Amazon Japan (VICJ-61291) for $156. When you factor in the shipping, you (ispace) will still save close to $90. In my case, since I rarely mess around with these large boxes, and don't have any recent upgrades, I'll probably ditch the older box and try to pick up a good chunk of the material as 24-bit reissues due out in Dec. Target has been selling those for $20 (ours is the Ms. Pac-Man though). Easy as pie to use.

I saw Clinton's first post and immediately placed it in the queue. I've picked up a handful of these (Pepper, Guaraldi, etc) but this is one I'd like to a/b up against the 'Relaxin' XRCD. Now to drop hints that a reasonably priced SACD player would make a swell B'day gift.

So, what's the verdict?

Yeah, the clip where the guy rolls up the shade in the a.m. and that guy is standing a few feet from the window staring at him is creepy. -

Kevin or Claude -- if one is interested in taking the SACD plunge, is the Pioneer Elite DV-45A still considered a solid 'good bang for the buck' unit, or is there a better way to go?

Hey Chris, your B'Day gift is in the mail! Found a used LP that you're gonna love! -
Several tracks like 'Lavender's Theme' and 'Night & Day' have that fleet-fingered Andre Previn flavor to 'em like something off of "Gigi" or "Like Previn!". A couple of others remind me of something from Don Friedman......or a Friedman clone. If Freidman had ever produced a "A Day in the City, Volume 2" LP, 'Rubato Jazz' would have been on it. "Indian Spiritual" is the one heavy, plodding number on the Hill Trio that I don't much care for. Not a bad cd, but not one I'd conduct a mad search for. I slap this one on every now and then in order to hear the bass player on the first two tracks I mentioned. When he kicks in, I turn up the volume and get happy.

I just joined and thought about checking this out. Does Adam Ant sing 'Goody Two Shoes"? -
I went 2/4 on Friday. The Don Ellis was a mess.

True. A major plus is that the man knows how to properly package things up. The box that arrived today looked as though it had been hit by a falling oak but none of the mini-lp corners were dented...not a cracked jewel case in the lot. He puts the ten-thumbed members of the packaging crew at CD Universe to shame....as does Amazon Japan.
