  1. More the latter, enjoyed most of it.
  2. Enjoyed everything I heard him play. Another loss, 2022 can stop right now
  3. really enjoy that one
  4. I think it's precisely because they sound as you describe that I like them There's an element of almost academic rigour to their swinging and that's not meant as a criticism. All really rather serious. Bongo heat is definitely cutting through the greyness of the weather and work! I think I may have found my Buddy Collette album. I keep meaning to check out the one on Black Saint or Soul Note too. edit to add: just placed an order for 'Jazz Heat Bongo Beat'. I need this album in my life if only for grey Monday therapy
  5. 'A Nice Day' still sounds too pretty to me (I know, I'm sorry) so I'm taking some bongo heat now instead.
  6. Funnily I have tried to find a Colette album I enjoy as much as those Hamilton's he plays on which are absolute favourites. I did enjoy his 'Porgy & Bess'. I'm listening to 'A Nice Day' now to see how it fits these days
  7. Damn, that's a sad story that his death goes unheralded (if it is so) Those Silkhearts, the ECM. Important early Jazz listening for me.
  8. Wins all round then. Hope you're feeling fully recovered. Masayoshi Fujita - Bird Ambience [Erased Tapes, 2021]
  9. Beaver Harris 360 Degree Music Experience - Beautiful Africa [Soul Note, Italy 1979]
  10. That's a good album
  11. James Moody - Another Bag [Argo, 1962 Mono] just fabulous
  12. My order's in too, with the man himself
  13. Really? Honestly, I despair Cambridge Dictionary, cyber bullying "the activity of using the internet to harm or frighten another person, especially by sending them unpleasant messages:"
  14. Sent direct to your PayPal account. Thanks for all your efforts keeping this place going
  15. Completely agree. Discovered it last week. Excellent recording. I'm not sure that was really the point or at least how I understood it. It was a comment that she was simply being missed on the recordings front. Somewhat like your recent post listing particular players that you miss performing live music. Interesting that's she's now at Mills. I guess it's inevitable that recordings will be fewer for awhile as she concentrated on new priorities. Noticeably happened with Steve Lehman when he entered academia.
  16. Yeah very occasionally though I recall, I definitely remember him posting in one of the 'ECM, evil of the music world' threads.
  17. I like that Jamie Williams album, it intrigues me. Agree it's got nothing to do with Jazz. Irreversible Entanglements is great and the Ches Smith is good too.
  18. It didn't come across as cynical in the slightest just enquiring
  19. Me too. First time hooked I think she's great. I hadn't noticed the lack of recent releases but now you mention it. The duo with Alexander Hawkins is a good one. Maybe she's just keeping a low Covid profile. Now someone else who has really disappeared is Jason Adasiewicz. He was everywhere and to very good effect up to about 3/4 years ago, if not longer. Now nothing apart from a duo with Gustafsson
  20. I shou;d listen to 'Open, Coma' again. It's on my "to sell" list after a major cull of Berne titles
  21. Who else from Manchester should I be checking out, Halsall apart? Really enjoying this. I liked the cover photo so thought I'd give a spin No names I know. A bit more straight ahead than much of my listening to contemporary releases
  22. One trick pony but it's a good trick. Saw them live and after three tunes you could predict exactly what form the rest would take. Exciting though, for one sitting. Haven't bothered with the last couple of albums, maybe I'd be surprised Jazz Not Jazz? Not that that matters dreadfully
  23. Yep, considering a cull soon. No more room.
  24. Gordon Banks Pele Milton Nascimento
