  1. Wow! Where did that come from, just found it on Spotify. Thanks for posting
  2. Great read, thanks for posting. The heartbeat thing reminds me of Milford Graves
  3. Couple of these have cropped up in London in the last few years. Also it's noticeable that once used-only shops are now stocking new releases
  4. But they're such thoughtful and constructive sighs...
  5. Thanks, I'll have a look around
  6. That's good to hear. I only have this and two with Satoh, 'Canto Of Aries' and one I can't recall its title. I'm a bit wary of a MOR tendency that I have no evidence to support. Any pointers for others? Now onto this recent discovery. Some Billy Harper I didn't know about. One of the weirdest band names ever New York Saxophone Madness - Danjiri [CAC, Japan 1985]
  7. Toshiyuki Miyama & The New Herd - Orchestrane, New Herd Plays John Coltrane [Denon, Japan 1977]
  8. Just to say I think it's a very strong recording indeed (I've been lucky to have it for a week or so). Anyone who's enjoyed the previous Ensemble albums will doubtless enjoy this. Those new to Alex's music, this is a great place to start. Rich and involving music, that often belies its complexity with immediacy of impact, played by some terrific musicians. (As for the marketing team...good job AH is on the case ) I meant to follow that up and forgot, thanks for the reminder. Great line-up
  9. I was the target audience for 'Bat Out Of Hell' as a 16yo. Still vividly remember an amazing OGWT performance with Ellen Foley, I think. Can't argue with that voice and stagecraft. He'll be remembered, that's certain
  10. Fabulous, thank you very much
  11. Paul Bley - Blood [Fontana, Netherlands 1966]
  12. I think I've just fallen back into the black hole that is the Bley trio discography as I didn't know about the two Savoy LPs released in the 80s. @colinmce, can you help me out as you've done all the hard work, what's the relationship between the Savoy 80s LPs 'Floater' and 'Syndrome' (or the CD Floater Syndrome which compiles them] with 'Footloose' from 1963? Do the two 80s LPs cover all the 1963 issue plus some from the same session? If so, are the tracks that are extra to 'Footloose' available elsewhere before the 80s releases?
  13. I love that track, kind of wish I didn't know there was an alternate. Is it worth the purchase of a whole album I ask myself
  14. Paul Bley - In Haarlem, Blood [International Polydor Production, Germany 1967]
  15. that's a pretty heavy line up
  16. Thanks, will seek them out
  17. Good effort! I've similarly battled with all those sessions in the past. I have them all apart from Hi Hats, how are they?
  18. That was my reaction too. No mention of it being limited run either which helps
  19. Thanks I'll see if I can find that streaming somewhere. Did she do any other dates that went a bit out like the Peacock one do you know?
  20. Another delivered today Mal Waldron - Up Popped The Devil, US 1974]
  21. I didn't realise it had been released quite yet, off to chase it down. His others on Spiritmuse have been worthwhile too
  22. This looks essential reading https://www.trost.at/various-fmp-the-living-music.html
  23. Helen Merrill with the Gary Peacock Trio - Sposin' [Storyville, Denmark 1971] first listen to this, stunning. My introduction to Merrill but purchased primarily because of Peacock and his Japanese trio
  24. That's what I took it to mean too
